Customers Embrace Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite Worldwide

Suites Help Studios Win New Projects, Work More Efficiently, Deliver on Time and Within Budget

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Oct. 6, 2011 -- Autodesk, Inc. has seen strong worldwide adoption of Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites. Studios are using this broad set of entertainment tools to win new business, work more efficiently, and deliver projects that meet or exceed demands on time and within budget.

Autodesk introduced the Entertainment Creation Suites in August 2009, and expanded its offering to include design suites in March 2011. The company also offers suites to post-secondary academic institutions and secondary schools to help prepare students for successful careers in architecture, engineering and digital arts.

"Autodesk introduced suites across all of the main industries we serve because our customers need the flexibility to innovate and respond to changing business requirements in order to remain competitive," said Marc Petit, Autodesk senior vice president, Media & Entertainment. "Suites offer our entertainment customers new creative capabilities through specialized toolsets and enhanced 3D workflows that help remove the technical barriers to their creativity. Single-step interoperability and the tight connection between the tools in the suite bring new flexibility to the production pipeline."

Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suites help meet modern production demands by making more technology readily accessible in a flexible pipeline solution. The suite offers a choice of either Maya 2012 or 3ds Max 2012 software, and includes Autodesk MotionBuilder 2012 real-time character animation software, and Autodesk Mudbox 2012 digital sculpting and texture painting software. With the Premium edition, artists additionally have access to Autodesk Softimage 2012 software to create sophisticated effects and high-quality facial animation. Single-step workflows between the toolsets enable artists to more easily transfer data between products.

Rainmaker Entertainment, a Vancouver-based animation studio, adopted Autodesk Maya Entertainment Suite Premium. Tony Pelle, the company's director of technology noted, "With the Entertainment Creation Suite, Autodesk has helped us to expand our artists' range and flexibility, allowing our creative team to take on projects of varying visual complexity with greater ease and consistency."

"Mudbox software alone has increased our productivity, and has really streamlined the workflow of our surfacing artists through its interoperability with Maya. And we're still exploring other creative tools in the suite with the aim of reaching greater efficiencies while maintaining our reputation for superior quality and stunning visuals," he added.

Eurocom Entertainment, a United Kingdom-based game developer, also licensed Maya Entertainment Creation Suite Premium. "We adopted the suite to give us more bandwidth and flexibility for our motion capture studio," explained Mark Jackson, lead technical supervisor at the company. "We're now investigating how we can incorporate Mudbox and the Face Robot toolset in Softimage software into our workflow. It's really nice to have all of these tools at our disposal."

Pittsburgh-based visual effects studio Animal East adopted Autodesk 3ds Max Entertainment Creation Suite. Jim Kreitzburg, principal and VFX supervisor said, "3ds Max Entertainment Creation Suite gives us the complete CGI pipeline -- best-in-class mocap cleanup and character animation tools with MotionBuilder; intuitive, organic modeling and painting tools with Mudbox; and the industry-proven 3ds Max workhorse to tie everything together and produce outstanding imagery with the built in mental ray rendering pipeline."
