How did you get started in 3D Graphics? I got involved in a simple, freeware total conversion for the game Duke Nukem 3D. The game characters happen to be sprites, and at first I painted them. Results weren't good, but then I discovered Poser, and things became fun. Poser happens to be one of the best softwares around, and I'm still using it for character development in 3D games. Since then, Poser has transformed into a valuable tool. Especially for creating fantasy and fetish artworks. How long have you been working with 3D Graphics? Close to 6 years now - since 1998. I first joined Renderosity around September 1999. Previously, I was heavily into 2D pencil artworks - mainly portraits. Creating 3D graphics, and artworks has been mainly a relaxing after-hours hobby for me. (I teach high school geography, and science for a living) Do you have any formal training? No. I taught myself over the years. What software do you use to develop your products? Curious Lab's Poser Pro Pack, Rhino, Stephen L. Cox's UV Mapper 0.25e and Mr.X's Morph Manager 3.1 are among them. Stephen's UV Mapper and Mr.X's Morph Manager are truly a godsend. Praises goes to both of them for releasing it free to the Poser community. How much time is required for product development? It depends. The largest fantasy outfit I've worked on yet is Electra Princess of Sparta. It involved a lot of modelling work, and it took me more than 2 weeks to get the entire outfit completed for Poser. Most of my other outfits take less than that, usually from 3 days to one week to get them fully modelled. The next step is beta testing the outfits. This might take another two to three days. Do you have any advice on how to get started selling 3D Products? If you're a beginner with Poser, then my advice is that you start by selling something simple. You could complete a pose collection, and place it online at the Renderosity Marketplace. Once you have some sales, then you could attempt something more challenging. Once you're ready to experiment, then it's recommended that you get your feet wet with character and body texture creation. (both of which are currently highly saleable at the Renderosity Marketplace) The next step is prop, and outfit modelling - which means picking up a 3D modeling program like Rhino. Most 3D modelling programs are easy to get through, but some could really get you over the hill after a few attempts at learning it. Prepare lots of Tylenol - just in case :) Where does your inspiration come from when developing new products? For my fantasy outfits, most of my inspiration comes from Luis Royo. When I first visited the Marketplace, there were already a lot of fantasy outfits available. But very few share the naughty, and sexy styles worn by Royo's girls. So I decided to really explore this in the outfits I create. How has Renderosity's on-line community played a role in regards to your products, friendships and learning? First of all, I'd like to thank everyone at Renderosity - for their more than generous support, tips, guidance and encouragement especially at the Poser Forum. There were times when I came close to bailing out - if it wasn't for you guys lending a hand to a newbie like me, ever since I first joined Renderosity in 1999. I'd like to take a small moment, and send a shout out to a few really close Renderosity admins who were there for help all these years: To Clint (ClintH) and Jeff (JeffH) - thanks for putting up with, and helping a real pain like me all this while :) To JenyK - you're the unsung heroine of the Renderosity admin team. Also, I'd like to send a shout out to a few really close friends, for all the help and for lending an ear all along: Karen (RNKarenER), Orietta (luciferino), Morgan (mlevans), Perry (pjaj), Bryan (SevenWolves), Adam (Alchera), Linda (cwshorty), Bri (briggie), SnowSultan, Craig (Hawktoey), Pati (akahastur), Ursula (swissy), Danie & Marforno, Hobbes & SubTigee, Dboura & Jeweldragon, Carol (Rockets) and to everyone else at Renderosity. Thanks for being there guys :) Do you have any final words? Just a sincere wish for world peace. Cheers and happy rendering everyone :)
