Artist of the Month for August, 2018:
By a wide margin, Renderosity members vote alanwilliams as the August, 2018, Artist of the Month. Alan's speciality is nature photography although he turns his camera eye to many subjects. His skill is obvious, but what's particularly appealing is his sense of poetry in nature. Look through his gallery and you'll see someone snapping pictures of the truly beautiful in nature. We need artists like alanwilliams to remind us that nature and its inhabitants are to be loved and admired.

Interview with Artist of the Month - alanwilliams
Renderosity: You have a poets eye for nature photography. What interests you so much in photographing nature?
alanwilliams: First up, what an honour, i'm really pleased to have been awarded artist of the month. I have been into photography for so many years, and as walking has always been a big part of my life and takes me to so many wonderful places, photography has always been my way of demonstrating my love of nature.
What kind of equipment do you use in your photography? And what is your general workflow?
alanwilliams: i use Fuji cameras and lenses, prefer fixed focal length, although i use a zoom from time to time to time.
Any advice to those who are just starting out to photograph nature
alanwilliams: Advice?, do your home work regarding where light falls for instance, to my mind along with composition the main stay of nature photography alongside god use of DOF.
How has Renderosity made a difference in your growth as an artist?
alanwilliams: Renderosity provides you with comparable artists from whom you can learn so much, photographing in isolation can mean mistakes go unnoticed, which can lead to bad habits.
As a photographer myself, I've often tried to figure out how I pick a shot amongst the dozens I'll shoot in a session. I've come to the conclusion that it's just instinct: I choose a shot that appeals to me. How is it with you? Do you have a method for choosing a specific photograph among many?
alanwilliams: That's a tricky one. Instinct based on lighting, exposure, composition, allied to experience i suppose.
