Renderosity celebrates Lilflame, our January Vendor of the Month, who hails from Estonia where she has lived for the past 20 years with her husband, both passionate gamers. She said that is where her love for CGI developed and led to her working full time in digital design. She graciously spent time letting us know a little about her.

Q&A with lilflame
What are the programs you first used while learning to create 3D graphics, and what are your favorite programs or tools now for work?
I started creating clothing and props over 20 years ago, for Poser 4, by using 3DS Max. Since then, I switched many things in my workflow. Right now, I mostly use Daz Studio, Zbrush, Substance Painter for texturing, some Photoshop as well, and Marvelous designer and still using Hexagon for small fixes.
How did you transition your interest in digital art to production of commercial works?
I used to create art with Poser and later with Daz Studio. At the time, I did not own many accessories for it, so I started creating my own items for the art.
What are your favorite projects to create and what has been the most successful for you?
I am not sure I have a favorite. Every product has its own charm, and since I like to put a lot of effort into my products, they are all favorite in some way.
What part do you enjoy most about your work in digital art?
I find detailing in Zbrush most fun, and later texturing. Many times, it takes me a while to get ideas for all the styles.

How have things changed in your designs or interests over the past few years?
I have been creating clothing and accessories for over 20 years, and my style has not changed much. I always loved to create unique and stand out designs.
What are some future products you want to create or direction you want to go in the future, and what goals do you have in mind as a vendor?
When I get an idea, I get some notes about the design before getting to work on it. My list is long, so I usually don't create it right away.
Are there other artists that influence your work or have mentored you?
My influence is my husband. Sometimes he gives me ideas or critiques my promo images. Too risky or not risky enough :)
What motivated you to become a vendor?
The love for art and passion for 3d modeling motivated me to become a vendor.
How did you make the decision to become a vendor at Renderosity?
Not sure I remember all the details anymore. I’ve been a Renderosity vendor since 2003.
How has Renderosity made a difference or helped in your growth as a vendor?
Renderosity gave me motivation to continue creating and pushed me to improve the quality in my creations.
With the arrival of AI in digital art, what are your thoughts on its use?
I do not use AI myself. I like to present my work with the human touch. It might not be always perfect, but that's the charm.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to become an artist or vendor?
All is possible if you put your mind to it.
Any other comments you have for the community?
Thanks to all the customers for support now and over the years, and of course Renderosity.
