Press Release - for Immediate Release Dan Ritchie announces MMX
Support for PD Pro & an Upgrade Amnesty for Dogwaffle 2.1b
hackersNew speed demonstrated at SIGGRAPH BOF meeting
August 4 at the LACC Santa Clarita, California, August 1st,
2005 - Dan Ritchie, author of PD Pro Digital Painter powered by
Project Dogwaffle Paint and Animation software, announced that he
plans to attend the BOF (birds of a feather) meeting hosted by Phil
Staiger's TheBest3D.com during SIGGRAPH at the LA convention center
on Thursday August 4 at 2 pm. "Since last month's 3.2 release we've
been busy working on a retail version for our UK publisher, and
we'll be unveiling our new MMX optimized version", said Ritchie. "I
also look forward to meeting the artists who make use of Dogwaffle
for their creative needs." At the BOF meeting August 4 you will see
- speed optimizations, support for MMX and realtiming of filters -
a new contest to celebrate the discovery of a 10th planet - new
plugins from 3rd party developers There will also be raffles of
software donated by DAZ and Purplus. For more information, visit

Amnesty from Dogwaffle 2.1b Dan Ritchie also announced that
he's stunned by the fact that thousands of illegitimate copies of
Dogwaffle v2.1b have been hacked. "We've noticed a disproportionate
amount of traffic from our websites and realized there was a
technique found by which a fully functional 2.1b version could be
hacked.", said Ritchie. "While this is bad news in some traditional
ways, we're humbled and frankly stoked that so many artists around
the world have found it to be such a great software for their
creative needs. So, we're planning on offering them an easy way to
upgrade to version 3" During the Week of SIGGRAPH, from July 31
through August 7, a special 45% discount on the normally $45
upgrade price is being offered to anyone upgrading from v2.1b to
v3. It is open to anyone who has a running full version of Project
Dogwaffle 2.1b, whether legitimate or not. "We realized that for
many students and artists around the globe, even $50 is a steep
expense. We should know, we know how to spell 'starving artists'
ourselves as we've been there time and again. In the spirit of
world peace, for the promotion of the fine arts, and since we
believe there are plenty of other wars going on already on this
planet, we've decided to reach out, lend a hand and give anyone an
opportunity to experience the power of 3 by making it more easily
possible to upgrade to v3, or by inviting anyone using the freeware
1.2 or hacked v2.1b to make a small donation in support of our
effort to keep the spirit of affordable paint software alive. We'd
like to also point out that we do value the existence of other
paint software out there, and we have named dozens of them on our
website's links section. No artist should ever feel left out just
because they can't afford the latest and greatest at the moment."
