We always welcome new faces to the MarketPlace, but it can be tough to become quickly successful in such a large market of professional vendors providing top quality products. Countess displayed her talent for creating quality content immediately, and we are proud to have her start up and immediately begin offering popular products in the MarketPlace.
Congratulations to our 2008 Rookie of the Year ~ CountessWho is
Countess?
Well, let's
see.. hmm.. where to start...lol... Okay well my name is Halena but
I go by Countess online. I am a rising Libra, Sun in Scorpio, and
Moon in Pisces. I am half Greek and half Italian. I am from Queens,
NY and currently reside in Georgia with my family and Dachshund
Leo, who is a year old and sits or sleeps in my lap or distracts me
every time I am at the computer, hehe, he's too cute!
When I am not working or managing everyday routines, I like to make
art, watch movies, play video games, spend time playing with Leo,
hang out with family or learn something new.
How long have you have you
been involved in digital
art?
I have been into
digital art for as long as I have had a computer, which was
somewhere around 2001. I am a visual person so I think I have
always had a thing for eye candy. I have always been fascinated
with graphics and digital art and really wanted to learn how people
made such beautiful things. So I spent a few years reading
tutorials and spending lots and lots of time in Photoshop. I was
lucky enough to have met -Silver- (Jess) (bless her heart I don't
know how she puts up with me! lol) who taught me a lot as well and
has become my best friend and partner in learning everything
humanly possible about Digital Art and 3D Design.
What are you currently
working on?
At the moment
I am taking a break to regroup and reorganize for the new year. I
just finished a 3 month long project for the Damian and Damiana
bundle. It was a lot of hard work but I love how they turned out.
So I am gonna take a well deserved week break! LOL And then back to
the grind! Where I plan on making more characters, dabbling with M4
and intoxicating hair with -Silver-.
What software do you use and
why?
I use Poser and
Photoshop, mainly because those are the programs I learned in and
feel the most comfortable with.
Do you have any advice for
aspiring Digital Content
Developers?
Learn! Learn!
and Learn! You can never learn enough and just when you think you
know as much as you can about something, you learn something
new.
Never give up! It's a hard business to make it in with so many good
and quality products in the market, but if its something that your
passionate about and love doing, the fight is worth it. Try not to
let small set backs discourage you, everyone has products that
don't do as well or turn out as they hoped. I have to come to find
out that time is a very important factor and you have to be willing
to sacrifice a lot of it. Also, DON'T rush! Take your time and put
your all into everything you do.
Where do you find
inspiration for your
products?
I get inspired
mostly by what I know and like best. Anything sexy, dark, gothic,
punky, witchy.. those kinds of things. I have really tried to make
lighter softer things, but it's just not in my nature, I believe my
best works come from the more exotic and darker side of things.
Music helps me a lot to get into my work and be creative as
well.
How has this online
Community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and
learning?
I love
Renderosity, I have been a member for quite sometime and they
always have what I need or am looking for. I have met some awesome
people who are friendly and helpful. I come here everday, check
what's new, check the gallery, and read tutorials. I like the
friendly atmosphere and helpful tools this site has to offer. I do
not think I go a day without coming here at least once. It has
greatly enhanced my work because of all the things I have learned
and helpful people I have met.
Do you have any final
words?
Yes, I want to
give a big thank you to my awesome and loyal customers and to those
who leave product reviews and those who send me mail telling me
they enjoy my work! These are the things that help to keep me going
and make me want to do more and do better, so thank you so much!
:)
I also want to take a moment to thank the vendors who have help me
so much along the way and to those who have kindly shared thier
hard work and time with me; -Silver-, Liquid Rust, Rebelmommy,
