denko - February 2005 AOM!

Jan 31, 2005 at 12:00 am by tammymc

Who is 'denko'? My name is Marek Denko. I'm 24 years old and Icome from Slovakia. I'm studiing in Brno at Faculty of Civil Engineering. How long have you been rendering/doing computer graphics? This year it will have been 9 years since Istarted with CG. Ialways liked making music and CG. Last 5 years are the most active part of my CG period and Iwould like to devote my time to it even in future. Im hoping that my hobby will soon change to my job. Do you have traditional art experience? Iloved to draw when Iwas akid and Ieven won some prices. Hovewer, Ido not spend my time on drawing and painting any more, except when Ineed it for my own use. What are you currently working on? Currently Iam not working on anything that would directly concern CG. Perhaps Ishould mention that Iwork on correction of book about 3dsmax. Iam correting the translation into Czech language. Ineed to concentrate myself on finishing my diploma thesis. What software/equipment do you use and why? Iwork in 3dsmax programme. The reason is that this was the programme with which I started. Maybe if I started with something else I would be working in it until today. 3dsmax has many adventures and I feel very comfortably working with it. However I am openminded to other programmes and when I need them I would learn to use them. Until then I will stay with 3dsmax. What do you think your best piece of work is and why? Idare not to judge this and Ido not even want to. This is up to others. Personally Ithink that my masterpiece is still sleeping somewhere inside me :) Why do you like to work with 3D software? 3d software gives me chance to create. Rotating, moving and deformating everything without any need or redrawing represents agreat challenge for me. It is like some kind of instrument, something like paintbrush and palette in hands of old masters but in new design. Who/what inspires you? My inspiration comes from everywhere. Isee, feel, listen....all this inspires me. How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning? Iuse (and misuse :)) Renderosity to present myself. Ithink it is one of the most visited servers about CG and that is why Imthere. Also, there are many interesting articles, tutorials, beautiful gallery etc. Parting Comments / Advice to other Artists? The first thing that came to my mind was to advise them to be original. But at the same time Ido not think it is possible any more. So Iwould just recommend not to be afraid, to hold on and create. To me creating means fulfillment. That is how Ifeel it. Ineed to create. Marek
