av248824.jpgCongratulations to outoftouch for being Renderosity's Vendor of the Month for November!

Who is 'outoftouch' and how did you come by that username?

Actually, we are a little team of three persons, although I, Timo, am the one who does all the Poser-related stuff. If there is some spare time beneath all this, I love watching movies, TV and listening to music, or doing some music myself.

The username "outoftouch" is actually inspired by a favorite song.

Have you had any traditional art experience or training?

Not really, except some classical training in art class at school, which I liked a lot.

What are you currently working on?

I'm working on tons of stuff at the same time together with Bianca (Bice), and we are preparing for a bigger winter project coming soon, teamed up again with Freja & Adiene :)

What software is currently in your digital toolset and why?

There are a lot of softwares I'm using, but most used is, of course, Poser 8 and Photoshop CS4 Extended. Beneath that I'm working with UV Mapper, CINEMA 4D, ZBrush, BodyPaint 3D, and those wonderful little tools by Dimension3D.

How would you describe your creative process?

There are actually two different ways of creative processes.

First, the one I started with a long time ago, are the texture expansion for clothing models. If I see a new clothing package, I think of ideas of how to texture it. There are always some kind of "lines" I'm following to make my texture expansions match, when different outfits get mixed. If it fits in one of those lines, I start thinking about the styles and colors and begin to work.

The second way, is that I see an outfit or a hairstyle (often in magazines, in the internet or in movies) that I'd like to do together with my partner Bice. She is always
open to new ideas and helps developing the project, which is always funny and very creative. When the project has a face, we think about a name and finally start working on it.

This begins with modeling and ends with promotional stuff. I really like this way of working. Sometimes we also team up with ilona, Freja and Adiene. When that happens, the whole project gets crazy because of all that amazing input!

Are there perhaps any tips or tricks you have found in your own work that might be of help to others learning the software you use?

It is hard to tell at least one special tip or trick, because those utilities are full of functions I never knew of, LOL. I usually catch myself finding out something new while working. The only tip I could tell is to just try out something new with your software and get used to it. With every single working step you learn something new. There is no better way of learning than just repeating single steps.

Where do you find inspiration for your products, and do you have any particular favorite among the products you've created?

I often find inspiration in magazines, movies or TV. At times, I also find inspiration by walking through the city and watching people or shop windows.
A particular favorite product could be our Topmodel Kit product line, but it is hard to tell since I love all the stuff :)

Have you ever created product in response to customer feedback?

Yes of course! We are always happy to receive ideas by customers, and most of the time they end up on our "To Do" list, though we can't do everything.
For example, our "Blue Soul Hair," "Love Romance Hair," "Volume Tail Hair," and "Smooth Pixie Cut Hair" have been created in response to customer feedback.

Do you have any advice for aspiring Digital Content Developers?

Please really enjoy and love what you are doing! There is nothing worse than doing something you do not like or want. Always try to do the best you can!
Be creative and try to experiment.

How has this online Community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?

Renderosity is the first station of my day and THE community I have met people who are very great friends now! This is such a huge base of people who are very nice and helpful and work hard for this. I learned a lot here from friends and tutorials :)

Do you have any final words?

This is the part where I want to say THANK YOU to everyone around here, to the customers and to my friends and partners. Especially to Bianca, it is an honour to work with you, thanks for always being there! Not to forget a big thank you to all the admins here and their hard work to keep this running.
