Renderosity adds Social Networking functionality to MarketPlace!

This afternoon, Renderosity is excited to announce the addition of the Facebook Comments plugin to each and every product page within our MarketPlace. All a user needs to do is make sure they're logged in to their Facebook account, navigate to a product page within the Renderosity MarketPlace, scroll to the bottom of the respective page and leave their comment. This comment will then be displayed both underneath the product and on that users Facebook wall

A users comments are easily shared with friends or with people who like Renderosity's page on Facebook. If a user leaves the “Post to Facebook” box checked when he/she posts a comment, a story appears on his/her friends’ News Feed indicating that he/she’s made a comment on the Renderosity website, which will also link back to the Renderosity site.

Friends and people who like the Page can then respond to the discussion by liking or replying to the comment directly in the News Feed on Facebook or in the Comments Box on Renderosity. Threads stay synced across Facebook and on the Comments Box on Renderosity's site regardless of where the comment was made.

Users of the Facebook Like button on Renderosity's product pages will notice that this feature has been moved down nearer the new Comments plugin to make all Facebook related tools easier to find.

It is our hope that you enjoy using this new feature as we follow in the path of the explosive Social Networking trend of today!

I see this as very beneficial for most everyone, however we are all aware of people that write negative and inflammatory statements just for the shock value.

What controls will the vendor have with regard to comments?
Will there be a TOS or does the site TOS apply?

I don't need this, it's the last thing I want to start spreading around facebook.

Well, I think it's fine to use Facebook for this purpose. However, is there any way restrict the readership of any particular comment?

I think this is a great idea for spreading product information beyond this site. :)

As for the negative comments, keep this in mind: every time "Joe Negative" posts a comment, it will show up on his Facebook news feed... which means every single one of his Facebook friends will see the comment, including his brother, sister, co-workers, and maybe his boss.

If someone gets a comment that is inappropriate or violates the tos, you can contact admin and we will remove it as well.

There should be an option to disable this. My Facebook account is strictly for family. I disabled all apps & websites in Facebook and I did not give Renderosity permission to exchange my personal information with Facebook, so why does my Facebook profile appear at the bottom of Renderosity pages?

Hope we don't have to be on Facebook to comment on purchases. I stopped using it because all it seems to be is a mechanism for collecting private information and selling it to Big Business and gods only know who else for questionable purposes...privacy means very little on FB.

Ugh. I'm sorry, I use Facebook to talk to my friends, not to advertise. I like Renderosity just fine, but I don't want y'all showing up in my status updates to all my old school friends every time I see a new V4 texture that I think is pretty cool.

You all do realize you can delete your Own comments, right? And that you can block anyone you don't want responding to your facebook? Comments are not the problems with facebook. Having to add people you don't know as friends, just so they can read or comment on your news feed Is the problem. And once they leave a comment you don't like, it's difficult to completely remove them from your friends list...facebook account..have them blocked.. etc..etc. I agree that facebook reaches a ton of people that you most likely would not get here. But, I have to ask if the increase in views is worth the risk you take...Considering Facebook has had security issues for some time now. Personally I don't think Facebook is an option I plan to go with. This community should work together to solve the issues we already have with advertising our products, instead of rushing out to try the new " IN Thing ", just because everyone else is doing it. If we can't find a way to keep most of our vendors happy here, how do think it will work on a site that has security issues of it's own?My 2 for what it's worth.

I agree with a previous comment that there should be a way to disable this. I wasn't happy to see my Facebook image pop up at the bottom of a product page.

The reason most people use an alias online is that they want to keep their online persona and their outside world persona separate.

I would be more than happy to make comments on the products that I like here at Renderosity, but not with Facebook.

I really don't like facebook and I certainly don't like the fact that it pops up everywhere I go nowadays. :(
Why do you need it for us to comment via facebook? or any other socalled social network?
