Who is Rhiannon?
I'm just a southern girl who has always loved to create all kinds of things. My mother was a seamstress, and one of my earliest memories was of sketching the ladies on her clothing patterns and then designing clothes for them. My father had a green thumb, so he taught me how to plant things, take care of them and watch them grow. So, creating for me, just comes naturally. It's a business for me now, and it makes me happy to be able to work at what I love.
I was born right here in Tennessee, on January 6, 1960. I have one son, 19 years old. I love animals, gardening, music, and peaceful days. :-)
Do you remember the first thing that you designed on a computer, and if so, what was it?
Sure, I can tell you it was artwork done in Bryce 3D, back in the late 1990's. I was an avid "Brycer" and dedicated alot of time to learning everything I could. This interest in 3D graphics naturally led me to Poser. I joined Renderosity in April, 2000 and became a merchant around November of 2003 with my first skin texture and morph for Victoria 3.
In 2006, I got my feet wet with modeling when I began creating and including some jewels in my characters packs. Then I got a little more adventurous and slowly began creating even more content, starting with my Isadora and Nya packs for Aiko 3. And, as you can all see, I kept moving ahead from there.
I really enjoy modeling, it has helped me to add more dimension to my work. When I create a skin texture and a morph for a figure, and then I'm able to follow through with my vision for that character with clothing and accessories, I have a more complete and versatile package to offer. That is very satisfying for me, and hopefully, for my customers as well.
Through your success at Renderosity, what has been your favorite piece of work so far?
Wow, that's a hard question, because there are so many unique things I love about everything that I create, else I wouldn't create it. :-)
For V3, I have to say my favorites are Dominique, for her pale skin and beautifully sweet face, and Eden, for her pure sex appeal and I also love her skin.
For Aiko 3, it will have to be Meghan, I think she speaks to all Aiko 3 lovers, and Nya, she's such a little princess with her clothing and accessories.
Finally, for V4, I'd have to say that my favorite so far has to be Sira Black. Although I do like to mix it up, I am very fond of darker, gothic styles, so Sira Black was a labor of love, so-to-speak. At the time, it was the largest package I had created, and it was pretty special to me. And it has been very successful, so I'm very happy with Sira.
Let's see what's “under the hood”. What are the hardware specs for the computer you use to create your masterpieces?
Okay, let's see ... AMD Athlon 3500+ 2.21GHz, 2G RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT, and two 300G hard drives. I use a 22" Acer LCD monitor. When it comes to the technical side of things, I'm more comfortable around software ... I know just enough about hardware to be dangerous ::grins:: , so I can't tell you much beyond this. I think I may spring for a new system though, so that I will have two to work with.
Do you have any advice for aspiring Digital Content Developers?
- Do what you enjoy and makes you happy.
- Try to learn something new everyday, the learning process should never stop.
- Strive to create something unique and develop your own personal style.
- If you aren't happy with it, chances are, no one else will be either. Never settle for "good enough".
What are you up to when you're not hard at work on the computer?
Well, that's a short list because I work alot.
I began some remodeling in the house last year and I'm chipping away at it slowly, room-by-room. I try to spend time with my son when I can, although the older he gets, the less I see him. Can you say "empty nest syndrome?" :-)
When I can, I like to catch interesting television shows on Animal Planet, National Geographic, and The Discovery Channel. Also, reruns of X-Files, Lost, and Grey's Anatomy are my fave series at the moment, plus a few CSIs thrown in there. And I love movies, mostly horror/mystery/thriller types.
Also, it is early spring here now and planting season is just around the corner, so I will be getting outside more.
Oh yeah ... and sleep, I forgot about that. :-)
Do you have any final words?
