Oh, those lazy,
hazy, crazy days of summer are here! And what better way to
celebrate than with a cool Vendor sale? Ahh, but for
those living in parts of the globe that are not currently enjoying
summer, perhaps this sale will bring just enough of the 'warmth'
you need! The "Days of Summer" Sale starts on July 17th and will continue through July 31st! Beginning on July 17th and continuing through July 31st,
there will be one item in my store on sale everyday for 30% off,
for one day only. Each day it will be a different item.Â
But, that's only the beginning of the fun ... First, let me ask you about your current sale. What prompted you to have a sale of this proportion? A good friend of mine actually gave me the basic idea, and then I put my own spin on it. I wanted to try and give a little back to the community and to thank my customers for their support. Let's face it ... the overall economy is not exactly at its shining best. So, I thought this would be a great way to promote my store and at the same time, give customers a chance to save some money on something they have on their wishlist. If the response is good, maybe I will make it an annual event. What is in your creative toolset? Is there anything you couldn't possibly do without? I think that the easier question is what is "not" in my creative toolset. :-) What could I not do without? That's easy, it's Poser File
Editor. That program is absolutely invaluable if you're doing
"anything" for Poser, it saves me so much time and
aggravation.
Do you have any traditional art experience? No, I don't have any traditional art experience at all, so it's a good thing I don't aspire to be a Da Vinci, huh? Are you primarily self-taught in the way of digital art? Years ago I had alot of training in Photoshop, but I've been on
my own with Poser, Bryce, Painter, and everything else from the
beginning. That's not really a fair statement though, because
there are so many people willing to help anyone, and resources
available for just about anything you want to learn, so you are
never "really" on your own. The only other
requirements are time, patience and a willingness to learn.
As a Vendor here, how has your experience been? My experience here has always been terrific, as a vendor or otherwise. The Renderosity community is full of opportunity and so many friendly, talented individuals. As for the staff here, the personal service and attention is invaluable, and I am very grateful to everyone for all they have done for me. It's great to be able to pick up the telephone and get a real person on the other end of the line. What do you feel is key to being a successful Vendor? Are there any tips you could provide for those looking to sell here on Renderosity? The most important thing is don't be so quick to just give up. If you put a product in the marketplace and it doesn't sell well, don't waste your time blaming this or that ... instead, ask yourself some valid questions, and be honest with yourself.  Is it a unique product, or are there 3 other products just like it in the MP? Did you promote your product in the galleries and forums? Did you do an eye-catching thumbnail and fabulous promotions? Did you do a banner for the product? Does the product work as it should? If you create a quality product for a fair price, and you slowly
but surely attract customers who trust you and your work, you will
make it. Be patient ... it may take some time, but you
will.
When you set out to create, what is your inspiration or motivation? Moreover, do you specifically look for trends? I do look at trends sometimes, but I think it's more about
balancing the overall scheme of my portfolio and pushing my
creative and technical skills. If I find myself in a rut, I
try to create something that will require me to use skills I
haven't used before, or learn something new. Do you receive a lot of requests for specific products to create? Oh yes, we have alot of really creative people here and I love
hearing about new ideas and product concepts. I have a long
list of them in my "ideas" folder, you can be sure.Â
I just wish I could clone myself so that I could make them all a
reality. My favorite will always be be Sira Black, because I'm partial to
darker, gothic styles. And the Sira Black package has
been very popular, so I'm very happy with it. A close second
is definitely Elsa Wylde ... I really love the character and I
enjoyed creating that package.
Rhiannon, thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy
schedule to share with us. Thanks, also, for your work in
giving back to the Community through this "Days of
Summer" sale, and I wish you much success, now, and in the
future!
