In Memory of Duane Davis [navysquid]

It is with great sadness that we hear about the passing of Duane Davis, known to the Renderosity Community as artist navysquid, on November 12, 2006.(Link)

From his wife Tammey Davis:

"He was a great man with a big heart and a loud sense of humor. He loved to laugh, and up until his death he found humor in everything. He was a poet at heart, always writing or creating something. He loved country music and had a beautiful voice. He was a member of the US Navy. He was also a black belt in tae kwon do and won several awards and was even presented with several honorary swords from being a guest at tournaments. He was also a very religious man whom I was proud to call my husband."

The Renderosity Community extends our deepest sympathies and best wishes to Duane's family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Please join with us in sending Duane's family and friends our condolences.

We also invite you to take a few moments to view Duane's Renderosity Art Gallery.

I remember how i posted a quite angry comment on a parody image when iraq war started. I regret never having said something nice afterwards. I saw he never received a comment on that first Cylon picture, although its very funny. He really deserved something better. I'm sad that it's too late now to say thanks to him for taking the time to make his pictures and posting them here.

Second person that passes without me having the chance to say "You rock, man!". Guess i should just say that more often.

Hey Douane, if you can read this: You rock, man!

I'm very sorry to hear about the death of your husband. Three months ago I went through a death in my family as well. I wouldn't dare to minimize the loss you are feeling and I want to encourage you to celebrate your own continued existence. Even though celebrate isn't a word that might easily come to mind right now. Love and Strength.

It's sadder for those left behind than those that go before us, and the only thing we take with us when we go is love, so make sure you have enough, and it sounds like Douane did, and the greatest music to God's ear is laughter,we lost a star, God gained a diamond. xx

I'm sorry to read of your loss.
I looked at his gallery and thought to myself that with so many artists here its truly a shame that it takes the passing of one to finally discover that persons art, so little time and so many talented people.
From your description of Duane and from his images of vast landscapes I imagine he lived large and embraced life. Thats good. :)
I'm sure his laughter will ring out in your mind and heart for a long time to come.

Such a loss to the community, to the people that knew him, his family and friends. Whan someone so young and full of love and life is taken from us, it is a shock to us whom are left behind. I believe that he is at peace and watches down over those who he loves. Someday you will see a little miracle to show you he is still with you and I bet he has the angels laughing in Heaven.
I send my deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Just wanna say that that's my Dad and he's a great man. I never been able to really look over his work till a few years ago and its taken me all this time to be able to read your comments. I think I will do art and post photographs of my art on here in his memory. I am not sure how this site works though. Dad, I love you and I know I was a bit of a brat...but I'm not anymore. I've done some serious growing since you passed away and I am no longer that scared little girl you once knew. I am a strong young woman, If only you were here to see me. To see how much I have grown. You will always be in my heart and Granny still cries over your Death sometimes. She is afraid that my sisters will wind up doing bad things. But one day, they will see the light as I did. I miss you a whole lot Dad and the Art I make is in your memory. Love, Ariel.
