DREAMWORKS ANIMATION ALREADY UP TO SPEED WITH VUE LINUX NODES
January 16, 2012. Beaverton, Oregon: e-on the leader in Digital Nature solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Vue 10 RenderNodes for Linux, the company's first Linux based rendering solution.
High profile VFX facilities such as Dreamworks Animation, Weta Digital and ILM have been requesting Linux based Vue RenderNodes for years. E-on software is happy to announce that this option is now available to any production facility, big or small, that uses a Linux based renderfarm.
"Vue is an important component of the production workflow of many studios for the creation and enriching of digital nature scenery. We are delighted to add Linux support to the wide range of production options that Vue offers. This will give Linux-based facilities a major boost in production power and turnaround time!", said Nicholas Phelps, President of e-on software.
Linux RenderNodes
RenderNodes are e-on's standalone network rendering solution that allows for the rendering of 3D scenes at a fraction of a full license cost.
The new Linux RenderNodes are able to render any Vue scene including those with content from Cornucopia3D. The development of an xStream Linux RenderNode, compatible with Linux versions of Maya, Softimage and Cinema4D, will be considered if market demands.
More information is available at: www.e-onsoftware.com/products/network.php.
Porting the Vue application to Linux is not planned at this date.
Requirements and Pricing
The Vue Linux RenderNodes retail for $300/seat and licenses are immediately available from e-on software's online store. Linux RenderNodes are subject to a 20% yearly renewal fee.
Linux RenderNodes currently run on CentOS 64 bit Linux distribution, Kernel 2.6. Facilities interested in purchasing Vue RenderNodes for other Linux distributions should contact e-on software for availability.
Linux RenderNode licenses require the use of the e-on software license server 3.5. RenderNodes also require the use of any 3rd party network rendering application to manage and distribute the rendering of Vue scene files over the network of computers.
