2009 Rookie of the Year: pgmeri01!

Jan 18, 2010 at 12:00 am by Store Staff

Vendor who started in 2009 with the highest revenue. We always welcome new faces to the MarketPlace, but it can be tough to become quickly successful in such a large market of professional vendors providing top quality products. pgmeri01 displayed the talent for quality content immediately, and we are proud to have them start up and immediately begin offering popular products in the MarketPlace.

Congratulations to pgmeri01 for being the 2009 Renderosity Rookie of the Year!

How did you originally find Renderosity?
I apologize for my English, I am not a native speaker, so I may not always find the right words. I am not sure if I recall that day. Must be some years ago. According to my record, I joined Renderosity in the Year 2007, but I might have been observing the site for a little longer. I cannot say if it was Renderosity being the first site, who inspired me to begin again with 3D Modeling but it was definitely the most interesting one, through the fact of broad content from all directions, not being restricted in the style of content and leaving room for building up a broad portfolio in the runtime. I was also impressed about the process of your marketplace, the way to comment and rate items, references to other items. I started creating content much later than I was buying content through Renderosity.

How did you get into 3D modeling and content creation?
That is far more in the past. I originally started 3D modeling in my early years of sixteen or so, with a software called “Reflections”, a product of a company called “Oberland”. That was on a 486 DX PC with 66Mhz. That where really odd times… I recall waiting days for a simple cube to render (btw, has that improved meanwhile? :) )… as I grew older, I put this hobby to a rest for some while, then started again with Cinema 4D Version 8. But I struggled with the complexity, again left it rest for a while. Then came Poser 6, and I began to realize, that I became closer to get the outcome what I always desired: I always wanted to create a digital comic. Poser brought me near to it and with learning how to combine the perfection of Cinema with the simplicity of Poser, I came closer. In 2009 then I started to create the interior of my battleship, which leaded to the 2260 SciFi Series. It was logic to offer those items to the publicity.

Through the creation process, from inception to finalization of the product, what is your favorite part and why?
Hm, I guess that’s the first Picture you render with all parts assembled, with the right textures applied, first time you really begin to imagine, how the final product will look like. As I am mostly in interior design, I usually see the outcome only then, when I am nearly done and finished. But there are also a lot of other great moments, ie, when beginning to assemble the new product with something that already existed in my runtime. Those moments are like your imagination begins to flow and you begin to realize the potential of the 3D world again.

What are you currently working on?
I am working on two products in parallel: A Tuning Garage, a complete set of a garage and tuning area for the cars you usually have for your 3D Figures (little inspired through the movies), and second, on a executive office space for the 2260 SciFi Series.

Do you have any tips for those who might also be new to the content creation business?
Starting and beginning with modeling can be sometimes a frustrating one. Begin with small items, split your high objectives into smaller steps and try to model and create small items first, before you approach the really big ones. Use the open forums, here on Renderosity for example, if you are stuck. The community here is very open and always willing to help. A great group of people I must say.

What else do you enjoy doing when you're not hard at work creating digital content?
I just bought a house with my family and if there is time, I enjoy sports and just going out dining with my wife, enjoying the “real life”, cause its still out there...

Do you have any final words (any info you want to share with the community)?
I want to thank Renderosity, the Marketplace people, the testers and Admins with Renderosity, for their help and efforts. I also want to thank the community. I raised a lot of questions, and got a lot of answers. I really enjoy to be here on this platform. Last but not least I want to thank all the people who bought my work. I also got a lot of feedback about what people desire, this is helpful to get input for new products. Thank you all for this successful start.
