Description
She hadn't known her kingdom to have edges.
The unicorn paused and contemplated the wasteland that had dragged itself toward her territory. She tilted her head. The sunlight in the dead place was the burning kind. She could smell it, though it sighed and sweetened by the time it reached the luxurious trees of her forest. Though she had an aversion to ugliness, in a heartbeat she wondered if there was beauty in death—for if there was, she had never seen it and there were so few things in this world that she had never seen.
Though it was unwise to leave her sanctuary, the unicorn greatly disliked the idea of never knowing.
She stepped across the threshold. Her silver hooves left cloven, fertile footprints in the miserable soil.

I entered a 12 month long calendar contest over on DaggerBay. Participants have to pick a theme and then do one image per month. I decided to do a short story about a unicorn who ventures away from her home, told over a series of 12 illustrations. Eek!

I totally Love the Story And the Image is Wonderful although I feel that there is a little too much bright light obscuring the Unicorn's Head, You Have to Do 12 Images all at Once or spread Out over the Year Still It Seams Like a Regular Job
