Description
I saw this egret and he ok if I driveing but the moment I stop he takes off flying. I in my truck and shooting out the window. I keep on doing this for he would just fly 100 yards away. This was my best one of him. Most do fly away if you get close to them. This was at Lake Martin

the feet nearly touching and the toes fully extended...the wings outright and feathers open like parachutes to slow the descent... I like the mood of this AND the sight I see. Good capture.
I had my 250mm lens on which is a old manul lens
we have liftoff!! that lens works good jock i like manual better. but auto quick!! notice the pop bottles every where in these lake martin shots.
That's okay, my friend, I know exactly how you feel. Not only birds, but cats, dogs, opossums, insects, etc., they all fly or run away when I'm all set to snap the shutter. Only butterflies remain still and pose for me. Anyway, cool capture of the egret spreading its wings and taking flight in Lake Martin.
Very good, especially considering the conditions! The egret is a beautiful bird even when his feathers get ruffled. The little bit of water with his reflection makes this an excellent capture.
Beautiful image Jock :)
Perfect timing! Great shot, Jocko!

The bird is just trying to be safe, and I think that it is more impressive to see it's powerful wingspan like this.A fine picture.

The stark clean white of the feathers makes a great contrast to the scrubby background ! Neat capture & stalking, ~Cheers~

I thought he was given you a high five! ;)
Wow, you caught him perfectly -- and NO one's giving you a bad time about taking pix while you're driving!!! I saw about 10 of them on the side of the freeway last week, but there was no way I could stop, they're such beautiful birds!!
