Description
Dante, with Virgil, in the "Divina Commedia" go out of Hell enters Purgatory.
Purgatory has the specific function of expiation, reflection and repentance, this is the path that souls take to access Paradise.
(These days the world population seems to be going through something similar but it will end and we hope that it has served to make us more aware and less selfish.)
In the image the gray souls immersed in the liquid of sin gradually emerge and rise and acquire the precious golden color.
The idea is not so much to represent a scene as to underline a state of mind of the souls of Purgatory.

Wonderful idea and depiction. I love how from far away, they look like solid figures, but when you look closer, they are just forms comprised of ribbons. Fragile. Great work on this. :)

The description.declares cristal clear the inspiration for __ Purgatory__. I like particularly the right female figure with the mouth or chin dropped a little from the spacely divided build up rings or disks It reminds me of Eschers figures or heads , banded of peeled off too . Ideal for 3D effects I think . I have a good deal of the grahicus Esher art converted into stereo wich i cannot upload here for copyright reasens but want to exchange with anyone who want to see them so , if you want let me here ?
The message is actual and clear but I am not sure and nobody knows the outcome either of this global disaster Beware prepair and prepper ,not guns again like preppers already did for their worst predicted scenario,s and now we are sucked in it like in a horrific nightmare, sorry for not share your hope and optimisme Beauty and evil are equal subjects for my stereoscopic artwork . my glass now is half empty but i can offer humor to equal the balance . My englisch is not as good as yours , sorry !

From gray to golden. That's unique and clever and really well done. I like the human forms that seem to belong to another place and time, even if it is purgatory, it looks positive. I hope the world learns some lessons. I'm hopeful, just like your image is full of hope as they rise and change for the better.

An amazing visualization of Dante's Purgatorio---really, your images for Dante's masterpiece are stunning, Giuliano: I've never seen visualizations that communicated the essence of Dante's poem, like yours have. (I wish I had these images when I studied Dante, years ago!) I love how you portray the metamorphosis---from sinner to 'purified': Not only do you portray the sinners as gray (actually a beautiful tarnished silver), but you have them lying in a shallow sea (which seems to stretch into eternity). And they are face-down, as if in shame for all they've done.
And you also have the redeemed souls helping the unredeemed. In your 2 main characters, the golden soul is caring for the struggling soul. That is very touching. (And I don't think anyone can view this, today, and not think of your country, and of all the people caring for the sick.) This golden soul didn't merely free 'himself' (or herself), then leave: He stopped to help another soul be free. It's about care and love, not just self-redemption. And I also see that the golden souls no longer have the etchings, carvings or striations (striatura) that the gray souls have. That is, once a soul is transformed, they lose their striations---they become purer. And your water is filled with remnants of the suffering souls who once dwelled in it. Amazing interpretation, Giuliano. You've served Dante and purgatory (which, after all, means "to purge") grandly. Bravo.
