Captured 11/4/16 @ 9:04 am, somewhere along the boulevard.
The holes are all that is left from newspaper vending machines, which were bolted into the concrete.

At first glance I thought if might have been footsteps in wet cement. Then upon second inspection I noticed it wasn't. It is interesting that the removal of the vending machines left so many holes. Here it wouldn't be a surprise as during winter it is common practice to use salt to melt the ice which would inevitably build up on the sidewalks, and tends to eat into the concrete as well. It's a very interest catch.

ditto the above, and I like Helle thinking those pockmarks were caused by machine guns! Chicago in the 20s, with the Capone gang! I wouldn't have guessed vending boxes, but when you told us that that's where these came from, it made perfect sense. They really dig into the concrete, don't they! Love this. Love it. Great and daring angle, and the textures and that apocalyptic jaundiced-gold hue make this a really intense shot. And you composed it so well too: The light pouring into the shot from the upper right corner, the curb line in-line with the frame---and a fine choice of hue for the frame, too---the little bit of concrete above that curb line (or whatever that line is), a great opening of the angles, as the pic moves to our left, and that one big gouge on the lower left---as a 'punctuation mark': Great compositional choice. Terrific on all accounts, your minimalist sensibilities at their best. Love this shot.
