Captured way back in 11/05, at the beautiful Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuaries in Whittier, California.

I love the post work you did, it gives it a very old fashioned appearance.
(Btw, if you're wondering why I skipped a few shots in this otherwise chronological session, it's because I'd commented on them before. I'm not skipping anything otherwise...) With the above, a wonderful treatment of this already terrific tree root shot. You made it in to a 19th C etching. And btw, I see you've used frames in many of these recent shots, and you've used them all quite well. Here, the frame's design and hue harmonizes beautifully with the shot.
The shot itself is wonderful active, with a 'lava-spill' feeling to the trunk and roots. And fine textures on the spindly grasses, etc, in the background and foreground---fine contrast with the muscular trunk. Deep etched shadows too. And your grainy and brownish-purple really gives this an aged curio feeling; even more, like a treasured print from someone's 19th C relatives. The sky in the left corner is all the sky we need: A very intense crop, with wonderful detailed treatment, and a feeling of a finely detailed old beautiful print. Terrific.
