I left NAS Lemoore that morning with the intend to visit Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. When I got to the entrance to Kings Canyon Park we were told that the Visitor's Center was closed due to a wildfire. The fire that day was 28,000 acres in size, zero contained and growing. We were told that the Visitor's Center at the Sequoia National Park, about 30 miles along highway 198 was open. The smoke from the fire was so dense that all the views were obscured and a 50 meter uphill walk at about 7,600-ft burned my lungs.

|It would be a real shame to lose these wonderful old trees to fires. I hope it was contained quickly. I also hope your lungs have recovered. This smokey shot is very beautiful though.
