Description
This is again Siffleur Falls in the front range mountains of western Alberta, Canada. Siffleur means The Whistler and refers to whistling Hoary Marmots which inhabit the meadows around the cliff faces. However, while the marmots are in their winter sleep, little magical beings come out to play.
Do you notice the beautiful goblin's pelt formed by the snow patch on the right side of the falls? How that perfect symmetry came to be I have no idea. I wished I had seen it when I took the shoot because I would have done a telephoto zoom. Magical.... yes?
Also, the beautiful long blue fairy bells hanging from the cliff face. These are from little seeps in the rock surface, which drip and then freeze. After they grow to a certain length they start to be fed from the mist and splash of the falls and form these magnificent long tubular bells.
This site is only one of several frozen falls and seeps in this area. Fortunately very few people visit the area during the winter, giving those of us that do a chance to experience a special magic with little human disturbance.

beautiful and magical are two phrases that just barely describe this view. Thank you for sharing this mystical and wondrous scene with us.
Another stunner - a beautiful frigid fantasy...
A thoroughly lovely capture!
Roxie, this is such an amazing capture. I'm so glad you shared it with us as well as the detailed info.
A geologist would have a field day with those layers of rock and the long journey they've gone through... :) Thanks for the awesome view B-girl!
excellent
you capture beauty all the time, Roxy..
Spectacular!!!
This is lovely.. if cold. Love the contrast between the hard brown/gray rocks and the cold, light water. Mother Nature puts on some beautiful shows. :)
The frozen falls are unbelievable – the rock layers are also fascinating!
Yep great image!
Its funny you mentioned the goblin. The first thing I saw was a Panda face in the rock just below the goblin face. Beautiful image. Thanks for sharing.
Very beautiful shot!!!!!!
Fantastic ice szene and shot!!!
Magical indeed! If you are referring to the patch of snow with the "hemline trim" around the edge, that is a very cool work of nature. The "ice bells" are equally impressive. Beautiful, clear shot.
Mother Nature - the ultimate artist.... That is a fascinating phenomenon you've captured, Roxy! There's probably a nekkid goblin froze in that cascade somewhere! The faerie bells are equally fascinating, and again, the blue of the ice is really beautiful. A most delightful capture, Roxy. It looks bloody cold there, though!
Nature's finest artist is her Mother. Amazing pic
