This is the view that opens up before you through the gate. (Upload yesterday) Part of the ruins of Bolton Abbey can just be seen on the left.

Yesterday I was wondering about the view and here it is...thanks Jeff...beautiful vista...filled with history. I suspect we're better off living in our own time.
those are some fairly well dressed people walking along through those sheep. Love that very long, winding path.

This was taken on a Sunday and there was a service going on in a renovated part of the Abbey which might explain why the people were smartly dressed. Would you believe - the cream square blob at the bottom of the field is an ice cream vendor, totally out of place. Tomorrow I will upload a shot from over the river showing stepping stones and the ruins of the Abbey. Thanks to all for your kind comments.
