Description
Captured 9/6/09, around 11 AM, in the garden department of the Home Depot in Norwalk, California.
That's right, instead of the usual run of sidewalk and lawn shots I take of flora in surrounding neighborhoods, all the while risking the umbrage of suspicious home owners, this time I pulled a Tara/auntietk and drove over to our nearest Home Depot, received permission to photograph their lovely blooms, and away I went, clicking away, ninja and sneak factor free.
Actually, the number of species of flowers I hadn't shot before was extremely limited, so this won't be an extensive series.
Toodles, and tallyho.

they are beauties! RS
California is full of flowers and you went to a Home Depot to take this LOL love your spirit ... you need to take a drive out to the Poppy Fields sometime for me and get some photos beautiful place if you've never been... beautiful shots~
Fabulous yellow! Love the last shot where I can see a tag as well. Gotta admire the curled petals thightly packed in a ball.
Beautiful shots of these sweet little flowers, the detail is great!! btw,, went thru Norwalk on my way to Whittier to see a friend, I waved, but you probably didn't see me!!
lovely gold colors here
a very nice series, Harry, very rich blooms and complexity of petals, etc. And nice light on each individual petal. When shot in a store garden in closeup, we wouldn't know from over here that they weren't out in the neighborhoods or parks. Nice capture of their bigness & bold yellow/gold hues. (It's a member of the daisy family, and on the chance you didn't know, it's named after the virgin Mary though I'm not sure why.) The bottom one has a fascinating angle, making one of the flowers look like a kind of oblong frilly ball...
Beautiful color and a great source of subjects!
Marigolds have always been a favorite of mine, and they are captured perfectly here.
Oh how I love marigolds; they bring back such sweet memories for me. Mom used to always plant them around our bird bath out front, and alongside the house. My brother and I used to trap bumble bee's in jars that would be sitting on them .. collect a bunch, set the jar in the middle of the yard, open it, and run like heck! lol anyway .. that was actually 2 memories. :)
Very nice Harry. I have always thought about taking my camera to the "home" store, but never quite had the nerve. lol. Now I don't have to, because you already did :)
It's a great place to take pictures of flowers! A nice collection here.
Some nurseries welcome photo takers also...lots of great yellow in these Harry..
Lovely collection! I like how some are tightly wound and organized and others loose and going every which way. If flowers had personaities, I know which one would be an anal-retentive perfectionist. The tight cropping really works well. They seem to burst from the page. Lovely detail and color!
Beautiful flowers and colours..
Wonderful little bundles of sunshine and joy and you did them justice with your great collage of images Harry! Well done and I am looking forward to the rest of the flowers your have captured at the Home Depot! :)
Beautiful colors and light.Fantastic close-up
Why do suddenly feel Fantasia-esque? Great series, perhaps a better name would be March of the Marigolds? :D
Lovely golden curls; nothing more appealing than a flat of flowers just looking for a new home. I love Home Depot! Nice collage of brightness color here!
As always your collage is awesome, the color and detail are beautiful, beautifully presented!!
I planted these under my tomatoes to keep the whiteflies away, but something else ate them! Very cheery pics!
My favorite flower Harry...partly because it is one of about three that I can name:-) You've nailed these...fine detail and color.
I love Marigolds (not as much as daisies, mind you...) The many conically shaped tubes that make up each blossom head are perfectly lovely by them selves. Then as they grow out the reach out to be the frilliest. :-)
