Description
This was the scene across the street from my house last night, the fire is still burning out of control but due to the wind changing direction the fire moved away from the house.
At this point in the photo the fire is maybe 100 feet or so from my place. I stayed up quite late watching the fire.
For 2 hours fire trucks when by the house about every 15 minutes as new deparments from neibouring areas arrived to help.
There were 3 helicopters and 1 drop plane working between me and the fire. I was trying to get a pic of them but by the time they came into view so i could get a line up they were gone again before the camera would go off due to that camera delay thing.

Looks like you were lucky my friend, not so whoever was on fire!!! Glad you're safe my friend!
Lucky for us it has been mainly trees. We have a staggering number of trees here in this city (yes this picture is taking inside the city limits). If I was to turn around and take a pic you would see all kinds of houses. At this point I have heard that there has been 8 to 10 houses lost. Considering it has been burning since Wednesday night that is pretty good. Speaks well of the 10-15 fire departments that are on the scene fighting the fire.
since wednesday ?? how you sleep my friend ? i want not able to sleep with this kind of threat on my doorstep.. but looks nice where you live .. and this in the city limits ?? not much a big city right
Oh, my!! All those poor people loseing their homes. I am so glad that you are alright. What an excellent image though during your time of stress.
This is frightening! I hope winds die down today and you will be safe. Did the house across the street escape damage? PHEW!
Que coisa terrivel, espero que possa haver um controle rápido, e que não sejam pessoas muito machucadas e perdas
Hope you are okay!
Oh my, you had luck ....I hope you and your family is okay? Hopefully the FD can kill the fire as soon as possible. Take care of you. Hugs
Its a great capture. My heart goes out to those who suffered loss of their homes. I am glad yours was not one too.
That is so scary, I'm glad the wind has shifted and I'll wish you some rain. It's a great photo all the same--lets hope it's the only one of it's kind you'll have to take!
it is pouring here now but the fire is still burning though it is now a couple of miles from my house.
Wow Mike it really was a nightmare. Anytime a fire like this gets close to a city it is scary for everyone
Oh my, Mike, lucky it did't get nearer...this is really scary
OH Mike that is so frightning. I don't think I would be able to sleep. Did you wet down your roof? I hope they get the fire contained soon.
That is really nasty. Glad you and your house is ok Mike
Glad your safe! Fire fighters have my admiration, It's a huge job fighting one of those things! The rain should help slow it down quite a bit, but never seems to be enough to cure the problem. only takes a day or so to dry out again.... Excellent shot Mike!
OMG!! I'm glad that you are OK!! and sorry for the people who lost everything!!! Great reportage!
so glad your house was spared.I was in a fire many years ago and if it was not for an old man waking people up (4am) many could have perished including myself.I was on the 3rd floor
some one's BBQ gone bad
OMG! I hope no one was hurt.
Awesome happenings Mike, happy to hear you were safe, my sorrows to those that were not so lucky!
Seems you were lucky.
