Description
'Modern life is rubbish', thought the Sorceress, besieged by everybody and every 'nobody' of the Royal Court. They pleaded with her to save them - but simultaneously chastised her for letting the world slip into decay. After all, they reasoned that they had abolished religion and its practitioners in her favour.... surely she could do better than this to keep the forces of evil at bay? But to her mind, they had brought all these evils upon themselves - through greed and poor planning. There was even talk that the banks were beginning to stumble... a panic far more fearful to some than merely flood, plague or pestilence... now things would really have to change. Yes, this was one weird halloween!
Bemused... she had tried every trick in the book. Now she would have to try the one that isn't in any of the books... you can only try this one once - but the real trick is you can try it ALL the time and forever... Now if only they would all shut up a minute and let her concentrate on the spell...
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: Hold on!"

I'd like to dedicate this to everyone here at Renderosity at these dark times. In particular though, I would like to dedicate it to 'novelist'. An artist and friend here who has helped me so much in the past few months and without her support I would have never held on... thank you Cathy.

Wow. Wonderful image. One of the best I've seen in a while. It must have taken forever to pose all those characters!
fantastic
Outstanding artwork! AmaZZzzzzzzzzzing rendering work!
Awesome and astonishing! Most of us are content to render one or two figures, sometimes without even a backdrop, and here you are producing scenes like this! It must have taken ages to put together but the final result is a stunning piece of work that should be a classic image. Excellent posing of all characters - even the rats! And the commentary makes it so relevant to modern times too. Jaw droppingly good!
Respect on this absolutly great Artwork, all the details, absolutly great, absolut wow :)
Fantastic scene!! Excellent work!! :)
My gosh, this is so fantastic and the style of the old masters is exceptional. A marvelous work of art! So many wonderful things to discover in this work. Excellent as always!
Returning to the galleries after a forced absence due to a medical cock-up, I naturally homed in on this new offering, Peter. Without first reading the title or text, I thought 'Aha, The Last Supper, 'Peter Hague' style, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought. I reckon there's about 60 hours of work there (in batches of coures) in at least 3 applications and you have done the best job in my opinion since 'The Dragon Slayers'. Lots of fine detail and a salutary narrative, and the famous 'If' fits juts right. Makes one get a warm glow being British! Naturally a favourite- goes without saying. Dave
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Awesome details as usual ! C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S
Very epic and timely. Really wonderful details and the addition of the poem really got to me. Great work!
Stupendous! Very appropriate. A Sorceress and all of her magic would have an impossible time undoing what greed, apathy, and decaying morals have accomplished. Magnificent portrayal.

A very poignant display of the current times, Peter. Everything in disarray and only a few trying to figure it all out. Hopefully, my country will get some of it sorted out after there is new leadership in Washington in two weeks time. Excellent work from you once again.
