Description
'Modern life is rubbish', thought the Sorceress, besieged by everybody and every 'nobody' of the Royal Court. They pleaded with her to save them - but simultaneously chastised her for letting the world slip into decay. After all, they reasoned that they had abolished religion and its practitioners in her favour.... surely she could do better than this to keep the forces of evil at bay? But to her mind, they had brought all these evils upon themselves - through greed and poor planning. There was even talk that the banks were beginning to stumble... a panic far more fearful to some than merely flood, plague or pestilence... now things would really have to change. Yes, this was one weird halloween!
Bemused... she had tried every trick in the book. Now she would have to try the one that isn't in any of the books... you can only try this one once - but the real trick is you can try it ALL the time and forever... Now if only they would all shut up a minute and let her concentrate on the spell...
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: Hold on!"

I'd like to dedicate this to everyone here at Renderosity at these dark times. In particular though, I would like to dedicate it to 'novelist'. An artist and friend here who has helped me so much in the past few months and without her support I would have never held on... thank you Cathy.

top render I hope this is just a image and not a prediction of what yet to come after all, the bank are all in a bad spot
You are truly an artist. I'm blown away. I bow to your greatness.
Now, eventually, we know what´s going on deep down in the endless maze of your Escherian cityscapes: they are the architectural metaphor of their inhabitant´s administrative turmoil ! I somehow suspected that :-). Beautiful image.
great picture
This is such a wonderful piece. When looking at all the books the thought "all the knowledge in the world will not change things unless we decide to change" comes to mind. Very well done and so appropriate for these trying times that we live in. This is a wonderful and thought provoking artist piece.
Your immense skill to create epic scenes and powerful atmospheres is here again for us to admire and congratulate. This is just stunning, superb and a master's lesson in 3D graphics! My hat off to you, Peter!
A marvellous image and it has wonderful details that take a lot of viewing. Such a lot of work has gone into this with all the different poses. All those rats and fat cats. A great render for our troubled times.

AWESOME, looks like Congress!!! David
Like one of the finest of Renaissance masterpieces, this is truely both a statement of modern times and a study of those who do not study the past are doomed to repeat it. Truely magnificent work. The attention to detail is beyond belief, not only in the set up of each and every character but in their rich textures and stunning lighting. You must have a hugely powerful computer to be able to render such a scene.
