Description
Captured 1/15/08, around 7:30 AM, somewhere in the vicinity of my residence.
I had posted a similar shot on 7/13/07 (page 10 of my gallery), but shadows are relatively short at that time of year compared to those in late December or January, when they are nice and long in the early morning. So, realizing that time was a'wastin, and the longer I waited over the coming months the shorter the shadow each day, I rolled out of bed, got dressed, sauntered out to the tracks, waited for my shadow to move parallel to the tracks, and then, feeling the faint rumble of an ultra fast bullet train bearing down on me from behind, I snapped this photo.
Who said photography is a sissy hobby or profession?
Actually, before the nervous nellies pop out of the website excoriating me for taking such dangerous risks, the fastest things on these tracks are slow, lumbering freight trains that incessantly toot their loud horns warning everyone for miles around that they're a'comin.
Thanks for dropping by on this bright and sunny Tuesday!

Great shot... and I'll have you know, I have been haunting the tracks, too...LOL!
A terrific shot!
you tall . cool shot
You cast a mighty long shadow podnah.
Great POV and light!!
The long shadows of winter. I aplaud your patience to wait for the sun to be in such a position.
well.... you certainly are a tall drink of water in the morning! Very cool idea and well worth the early alarm.
Nice one, Harry, just HOW tall ARE you anyway!!!???
What a great shot, and MY! What long legs you've got! lol
Like how your shadow and the track lines lead you in
LOL! Cool idea. Didn't know you're that high ;-)
Nice idea and nicely accomplished image.... what a long tall shadow!!
I remember the first one, but I went back to compare (it's on page 8 when I look at your gallery - our settings must be different) and I like this one even better than the other one! The light is a nicer color (now isn't THAT a subjective thing!), and I love the drama of this one. I'm glad you went back for a second shot! :)
What a great shot , glad you went back and got this one.
LOL, perfectly centered. The trains frequenting your tracks sound like the ones round these parts. Thanks for sharing buddy!
Great idea..and a resulting nice image..glad no trains were wrecked or injured during this photo event...
Another excelent shadow play Harry. Loooong long legs...lol.
Fantastic POV....great details, fantastic light!
I'm thinking you're pretty talented to take photos whilst wearing stilts. Great shot ol boy, the shadow play ROCKS!!!
