Description
Captured 1/15/08, around 7:20 AM, about .20 of a mile/.329 kilometers from my domicile.
These are a few of the glass blocks that make up part of the exterior wall of a local VFW building.
Looking head on, the glass is actually solid clear and uncolored. I believe they appear amber in this shot because they are backed up by plywood paneling on the interior, which would reflect the color of the wood. Ergo, with the sun hanging low over my left shoulder at the time of capture, they took on the appearance of being amber at that angle.
The management had blocked off the interior behind the glass blocks from any exterior light in order to provide a dark ambiance for the bar/pub inside.
Anyway, fascinating play between color and light, almost fractal in nature.
Incidentally, if you look closely towards the left and about three-fourths of the way down, you will see the impact site of a BB or pellet fired at the glass by one or more joy-riding idiots, who have nothing better to do with their time, except possibly to spray paint graffiti on whatever clean surfaces they can find and deface.
