Description

Some more notes: I know that you cannot discuss about art..it is too personal and subjective... BUT normally if a lot of people make a comment under a picture this means that this a good pic and a great artist and if they choose this pic several time as favourite this means the same: a good picture ! Normally.... So if you take a look for example at the galleries of "Bossie Boots", "LadyMeltSekher", "Antonio57", "flaviok"...They have a lot of comments and so they must be great artist with fantastic scenes.... Then take a look at my gallery: I do not have so much comments (the most was a scene with 60 comments but this was exceptional case). So my pics are not so good and I am not such a great artist ???!!! Maybe you can tell me this is because of my style. But a scene like "The big world is waiting for me.." is complete different like "Give me your heart"... And please tell me what is the difference between my last pic and the scenes of "flaviok" ???? Yeah, the name of the "artist" !!! Maybe it sounds crazy but it really hurts me...

Dirk i will really miss you and your artwork. You are a great artist and you know this. For this reason a lot of really, really great artists leave Renderostiy too. Sad, very sad. I think Rendero should delete this stupid artcharts. I hope you will come back after your break. :)

I am sorry to here you are leaving. I personally love your work and think that you are a great artist. I post my images because I like them and if other people like them that is a bonus, I have and always will feel that way. As for commenting on other artists work I do it because I love all forms of artwork and because most every artist on this site does the best they can. However some artists do not learn and get better does that mean that they are bad artists or just as good as they will get? As for calling out other artists, I do not agree with this at all, but to each his own. You should be proud of your work you are a very, very talented artist and I do not want you to leave, if you do we all have lost, so I, even though you do not know me from a hill of beans, ask you to stay. First let me say...that yes...you are really an excellent artist....and I enjoy your gallery....second...I certainly did not realize yesterday was a I guess you would call it a "joke" on the 2 artists you named in the image(and they thanked you!!!!) and a "joke" on us....we that have you in our favorite artists..that pisses me off...I do take the time and effort to type out(not cut and paste) comments...but I do not condemn those that do(for whatever their reasons).....personally....I don't care if I get on the charts or how many comments I get..I may get part of a page of comments or I may get 2 sometimes(that is not why I am here)...I have much to learn and have enjoyed the friendships I have made here and maybe not all of the artists are as good as you and others...but I am so sick of this bickering..and flaming...which is what you did yesterday and today...naming "Bossie Boots", "LadyMeltSekher", "Antonio57", "flaviok"...that is in my opinion uncalled for...I have my own reasons why I choose to fav an image or what I say in a comment. Anyway that is my 2 cents worth...sorry to see you go...and I am sorry that you wasted my time..

I just said NICE :( It did have some nice elements, use of multible figure, image clippings, set constuction and layout. But I know what you mean, I was putting together a disclaimer for my images because I was feeling the same. I am not going to deny I may be fishing for comments on my images, either.

I look at commenting as support for each other regardless of where we are in our pursuit of art. I have noticed what you say but keep in mind that art is --subjective-- and as such what you like will not be what somebody else likes. A lot of art is a viewer looking at a deeper meaning only they can see, so while you may post something or see something posted that you think is just worthless, others may see something in it. A lot of people comment because they see something in the work that they like, as I do. If I don't like it or it doesn't appeal to me in some way then I won't comment. I disagree with how you have reacted but you are entitled to your opinion and choices, although I wonder if you thought about how your actions will affect the artists you brought into things? Your actions in this case are a little bit selfish. Also if you wanted to do a test you should have asked for only critical comments. I hope those artists realize that this is just your opinion and that it too is subjective. I do understand you being upset and will be sorry to see you go, not because I looked at your work much, but because you are an artist like the others here. I hope you continue doing your art and working to improve.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do. I will not justify why or what I comment on another image, nor will I explain why I add one particular image and not another. How many times does it have to be said that this was not meant to be a contest. It's only a place to display your 'art'. Renderosity has chosen to make this a daily contest (with NO PRIZES) by showing the day's top rated and most commented on the front page. In my opinion, all this does is promote jealousy and 'attacks' on other artist. God, I feel like I'm still in grade school when I read some of this crap. 'So and so has more friends than I do but my stuff is better so I'm gonna go pout'. So how's this for getting comments?

ah. that explains it. i didn't comment because i was shocked. i couldn't figure out why you would put up work like that. now i know. if you notice, a couple of other people noted the departure as well. including Ladonna, who gets lots of comment love. but i know what you mean. i don't think it was a dirty trick, i applaud your bravery in being willing to look behind the curtain. i do, however, hope that you just use this experience as rule of thumb and not a reason to leave. some comment hounds leave feedback, but there are a significant number of us that truly enjoy your work and honestly try to support you when we're impressed. your work is one of the reasons i enjoy coming to this gallery, and i'll be very sad to see you go.

What can I say.. everyone beat me to it... they are all right with their comments.. and people that play the numbers game just for that one fleeting moment of ecstacy to have their name on the charts... should change hands... the calluses must be really building up on the first one. I ALSO HATE.. cut and paste comments... they clog my email... and demean the images I create. Have a break mate... clear ya head... lose the anger... and let the children play... they grow up eventually and realise they aren't that shit hot after all... take care buddy!

Dirk my friend don't be upset, I have seen some uploaded normal taken photographs in the gallery of some people and have over 120 comments and some I have seen do very beautiful images but have only few comments. I only comment to those I know and are my favorite artist and if an unknown artist comment on my image I reply with my comment to thank her/him. I never go through the gallery and comment because I don't have the time for it. Copy and paste issue is a different story, I sometime get also from an artist the same writing 3 days long or more this can have many reasons. If you want the reality all our daily uploading images are not perfect, Long time ago someone was criticizing on my images bad or nice for many months and he himself didn't produce even 1 image I never replied to him, after a while he stopped and disappeared. Your art is fine bad or good, for me collecting comments is not the point, doing an art a day gives me mental satisfactory and I don't pay attention who is commenting more, bad or good, copy and paste, because I know I'm good and for the same reason you have to think the same way.

You said something I have been feeling for sometime now, probably how many of us feel. I am very new to actually posting pictures and will certainly admit it frustrating when you put alot of work into an image and don't understand why people arn't commenting when the pictures all around have pages of them. I asked a few people and they told me " to get comments you need to leave comments." I think that is utter garbage! I scroll through the pages here every day looking for art that appeals to me. If I see something I like I will leave a comment. It is unfortunate that this site really is based more on who you are than what you put out...but that again is the way of the world. On a parting note just consider this...you created the art, therefore it is you that has to be satisfied with it. Knowone elses opinion should matter if you like it. ( But I do feel for you, I know how frustrating it can be.)

Some of my earlier works didn't attract a single comment; many still have less than 5 comments - and though my recent efforts have attracted more comments and ratings, I do not expect lots of comments. It would be nice to have hundreds of comments and thousands of views - but I don't expect that; the most I have for an image is 30, and more than I expected. I am always very pleased when someone chooses my work as a favourite or decides to choose me as their favourite artist. I do feel that whatever you may personally think about the quality and sincerity of the comments you receive you are wrong to start naming names of other artists here at Renderosity; and especially wrong to imply that their comments are insincere. We are all experimenting and learning; there are many incredibly beautiful pieces of work here, and many I do not care for; but there is no competition, no jockeying for position; we create and exhibit for our own pleasure - and if one of our favourite images attracts no comments, well, so be it. It isn't the end of this or any other world.

Take a break...enjoy the remainder of the Summer, but please do not quit. I have been through your entire gallery, and it is quite unique. There were pieces that I liked very much more than others, but you have a great talent, good eye for detail, and a distinct look to your work. I fully understand you getting sick of the thinly veiled pats on the back with no real sincerity behind them. Take a break, but please know that there are those of us here who enjoy and respect your talent, and will welcome you back when that time comes. Art is just damn difficult at times ;-)

ANTONIO

Well I think an art community is really successfull when artists are LEARNING from each other...Not ego-tripping on each other, or pounding the Upload server in competition of each. I respect every comment I receive simply because the time was taken, I do not use that as the yardstick or validation to my art however. The VIEW number is what I regard as success of an art piece of mine. Im an artist that creates for the pure joy that it gives "ME".. not to solely please others, should my work accomplish both however I am flattered, but even if it didnt, I would still create create create. I want my art seen and experienced even if it is in the quietness of their room or heart without a comment or word uttered. So comments I think are the way some of us express, and clicks are the way others express interest in a certain work of art. Life teaches us that quantity is not always quality. I accept that some artists will critique my work and thats good, I also have to accept that some artists will validate the effort with kindness aside from the bumps and misses of a piece simply because they do not wish to offend or hurt. You have to be accepting of both kinds of communication and take them for what they are in their purity. If your motivation to create art is pure and for the love of creation, then any and all politics of an art side will have no bearing on you. If your desire is to FIRST be famous, known, championed, win,THEN create ... then the human factor of a web community will beat you up. If your true desire is to FIRST create, THEN any community, any politics, any human foibles will simply be nothing more then drama to watch... Pardon my blather... but I rarely speak beyond my art here....and thought maybe my two cents might help :😄: Jazzie

Jollyself said it all. I feel the same. The images I create are for ME, not for anyone else. As long as "I" am pleased with the work, that is what counts. Comments are always appreciated, but not expected. If I get comments, Im thrilled, and if I dont, its ok. I know for a fact that many artists here, once they post an image, sent a message either by IM or in a chat program like MSN or ICQ to go look at their image, and they expect comments. That is just an ego trip. Those are the people who "expect" massive comments whether the pic deserves it or not. Many give "ooohs" and "ahhhhs" comments even if the pic is not so good, because they are friends. Not a good reason, but that is just how it goes. I, for one, will miss seeing your posts. But maybe it is time for a break. And when you do come back, if you do, then many people here will be glad to see you back!!! hugz Fyrene

A lot of your work I have enjoyed seeing. I only WRITE comments up on pieces I really like or have really appealled to me. I have not put a render up for a while now because of the time factor, I am currently learning to drive and hace a full work load, but when I have and do get another up, it does not matter to me what comments go up, although it is nice to receive them, I always look to how many views. This shows that at least people have taken time to have a look. If I have commented on any of your work in the past, it will have been because it was a good piece. I know what you are saying and I agree. I also in turn have comments from people who I have not had from in the past and some I have had from have not, and I do know that a fair few of these have left RO. In turn, I have had a picture on her with barely reached 100 views over a few months, I put the same pic on another site and it got over 500 views in a matter of days. LOL Sad to see you go, fornow take care and all the best

Really, everything what you have written is real and lamentable, Here there are big artists as you, that they aren´t valued at all. And excellent artists have got lost here for this motive. :( Nevertheless, I believe that really you receive always real comments, of persons that as me we admire your works. You always will be the big one, though the fish with the sword in the head have 100 comments, if they are empty and hollow, they don´t serve for anything. Have a great weekend! Iván

Hi Krid....I know what you mean. What we learn from are when someone give us a "good" critique on our renders. Thats the only thing we can learn from. I admit Im a chicken cause I never giving any critique to anyone. The reason are, that I won´t hurt anyones feelings. If I really see an "ugly" render, I rather not give any comments at all. But im glad you brought this subject up in the light, cause then I know I can give you feedback and even critique without hurting you. I do hope you are comming back today, and I promise to give you feedback from now on that you can learn from. And please do the same on my renders, cause I have a lot to learn !!! Hugs and kisses Tina :)

OK.. this came as a shock after reading thoroughly.. so let's be 100% honest and stop hiding behind our little finger.. many in their replies did I'm afraid! "( All this crap about our art is just for ourselves and that we don't care how many comments we get... we're HYPOCRITS!..all of us! If our art was just for us and we DIDN'T care about comments there was no need to put it in public display! I'd like to hear some arguments against that if you can think of any! Ofcourse we all care about comments and this is why we post! Once we kill ourselves to make an image we do need that "well-done" pat on the shoulder.. it's within any artist's personality so let's stop kidding ourselves! :( Yes.. there is unfairness on the way comments are granted around here.. never go by the quality but mostly by the relationship but that's life! Public Relationships! Take a great actor for example... he hates PR so he never gets the leading role..others with good PR get it..thrive and get to the top! And no.. I don't belong to those who get 50 or 60 comments least per image.. took me years to get around 20-25 average and truly hard work! Yet I don't complain any longer.. I've come to terms with the truth and the facts! Either you post and hope for the best... or you don't post at all! BUT... you never attack others personally and giving names like you did... any pride you might have in your work was demolished by that act! I'm sorry..that's how I feel! :( FINALLY.. I think nobody got the point of why you got to this decision.. your image before that was pure sarcasm and really hit you the fact very few bothered to read what you had said before commenting.. not to mention that praising comments on an image you intentionally made garbage.. was praised and taken as a tribute! That was sad indeed! Yet.. you didn't need to get to the limits.. despite how bitter it feels and I know personally.. I've been there! So maybe it's time you think again.. and instead of mad..get stubborn! That's my advice! You have the qualifications so why not? Prove to all you can too! That's the right spirit.. not crying out loud because someone else gets dozens of comments when all of us would love to be in their shoes.. and unfortunately that's the truth.. we ALL KNOW IT.. despite how many are willing to admit it! :) Rena

It is really sad, how many bad feelings and jealousy are cause by the numbers of comments and favs and the bloody artcharts. The whole thing is supposed to be fun in the first place. If you see it as a competition, you also must face the fact that others might win, right? A community of artists...

well i just deleted muy last comment on that picture.. i guess you are asking for a comment where i say as a feel.. and dont give a shit about you fellings... is that what you are asking for? the comments i give is pointing out the cool or amazing things in a render.. im not on ppl backs for writing nice things.. i dont care how many comments i get.. as long as ppl write nive things for me.. fun things as well..SS why do you ever bother to be upset.. so what if a render you dont like gets 70 or more comments.. guess it comes with how much you comment.. how many ppl know you name and your art.. guess they do the "footwork" and do alot of commenting them selfs.. how many renders are uploaded on ren a day? what are ppl suppose to do.. go through them all just to find pictures they like and comment.. please!! but i wish you all the best.. hugs christine

It is always nice for anyone, no matter what levelk they are at to receive encouragement which is what I thought the comments were all about and not a vote gathering excercise. I genuinely admire the work I comment on. Everyone has their own unique skill and talent and many of whom are far more talented than me. You are a fine artist and I hope your time away will allow you to realise just how very talented you are. Steve :o)
