Since I've been binging on Sherlock Holmes fic lately ...

Obviously needs much work and I'm not too sure about the top hat -- that some sort of decoration or is it borked? Also would like to get him closer to MY idea of a (sorta) modern Sherlock, that is to say not any one specific actor but a blend of several.

Cool portraits....I too like a bit of Sherlock Holmes...probably want to go either more generic with the description, or far more detailed if you already have a good idea what you want a specific vision  ...these look like a well known actor....

Spent all day getting my Speaker situation sorted, decided to go to the Klipsch dealer got a good deal on a certified factory refurbished pair of Klipsch Reference R-605FA with a credit for my old pair. These babies really pack a punch on the old McIntosh Tuber I play all my Vinyl on, I'm smiling again (happy happy joy joy) now I can get back to Mid-J again.

I had an old Marantz 2240B series Receiver when I was in the Army loved it especially  the horizontal Channel tuner Wheel just give that thing a flick and it would just whip from one end of the stations to the other in a flash and it sounded great.

I've been thinking about that article we read yesterday.  Regardless of whether it's fact or just someone's "expert" opinion, it struck me that if the Big Guns like Disney etc., or artists like Greg Whatshisname who most of us had never heard of before want to stay out of the AI world, why can't MidJ and all the others just add them to the list of banned words?

I must say that I have rarely used artist's names anyway, other than the Muppet Prompt which got me thinking.... so I did exactly the same prompt with the same seed but omitted the artist names from the second run.

So here's the first "ultrarealistic portrait of a Purple Dragon in green and gold, 8k photographic style filigree fractal details intricate ornate outfit hypermaximalist sharp focus, dramatic lighting, highly detailed and intricate, hyper maximalist, ornate, luxury, elite, haunting, matte painting, cinematic, cgsociety, James jean, Brian Froud, Ross Tran --chaos 10 --ar 3:2 --seed 1924"

Is the first any better?  No.  In fact, the first gave me a human instead of a dragon in image #2.  So my point is, the use of artist's names are really pointless in most, if not all cases.

Maybe slightly too desaturated, but really, I prefer to dabble in PS and not just click and post anyway. 

Adding some off the wall up until the time you use them in a prompt unknown artist at most just uses their style if that's the case tell it to Da Vinci, Rembrandt et all their styles have been mimicked forever and people rave not complain.

I have found that sometimes using artist's names in style prompts can make things worse. Used That Artist We Do Not Mention in a prompt once, way back when I was starting out with SD. Got a whole bunch of uglies even Photoshop couldn't save. He may be the cat's pajamas on Art Station or wherever, but when it comes to actual cats ... 

Editing to Add: Apparently, the reason Himself is so popular as a prompt is that his own style is actually a mish-mash of about a dozen other artists from the Classical era. So instead of a string of all those names in their prompts, AI users took the short cut of using "art by G***.R*******." in order to not have extra long style prompts that would just get ignored. Can't remember the article wherein it was mentioned but if I run across it again I'll post a link.

I took Lou to our fav Upscale Mexican restaurant last night, great Food (I love the Cabrito Fajitas) but it's not just the food that's good. The Atmo is fantastic, the strolling Floor Show is cool, Mariachi bands and Dancers. They come to your table and ask if you want to make a request and give you a personal show, I always give them a tip and ask for the Malaguena. I love the song but both Lou and I were mesmerized by the dancer she was fantastic, as we watched I thought about trying to reproduce what we saw in Mid-J

Seems he got tired of trying to fit into someone else's style for the job he was doing and decided to start downloading traditional art for inspiration. End result being a "new" style that's a blend of many, many Old Masters -- and maybe even a bunch of modern digital ones.

Lots of creative stuff again...

I've only ever used someone name in the prompt that gill tested her theory on... when i first started, 5 images i believe, then the names were taken out..genres and movments, like,  Cloisonnism,  Funk art,  Fayum portrait, and techniques.... Aerosol paint, Brush pen drawing, Cartoon style, to name but a few of each... will give you 10x better results than any names mention here, ....wish there would just get it sorted, one way or the other, so we can move on....because something else will soon come along that the naysayers and special snowflakes don't like,

Love the alien planets and those pandas are awesome! Been trying to get some Military Grade Assault Parrots but alas, no joy. SD gives me regular Pollys and, when I re-worded the prompt, threw in a couple tactical gear wearing humans. Don't know if the originator was using MidJourney or what, they didn't say. But got wicked cool Commando Birds. :sigh: Just my bad luck, I guess.

Gill:  your comparisons regarding adding an artist name was very interesting.  I don't use names much anymore either, more types of art (Baroque, Classicism/etc)  I actually think it makes better images.  Some of the filters automatically put in names though, so you either don't use those or just go with it.
