bt, As far as I know those effects are for lights. Post process except for volumetric cone. Don't know about glow or other possibilities.Have done only a bit with particles. Pretty new to Carrara and don't do too much with light effects beyond normal stuff so maybe someone else can confirm. I would check in the manual. Placing bulbs is an option. Might find this interesting(tho it isn't what you asked)...or you may have already seen it. Sorry couldn't be more help.No need to think outside the box....
Just make it
invisible.
My guess would be that there's no way to globally cause all the lights from the emitter to render with the effect. That might be a new featue request. They only just implemented using objects as particles this last time. Those effects have to have the light towards at the camera also. I don't know if you can do that either.

I tried to do this when the C5 Beta came out, and never did find a way to make it work. Would be a cool feature though, and I think they may be working on it.Chucker
What about havin the particle emitter emit a 2d plane with movie playing - you could have your effect rendered as QT and played on the particle, then add lights in background to give the look of each particle giving off some light. Might have to have several emitters to have a more random effect. Particles might have to face camera for the movies to be seen.

so has anyone managed to get the particle emitter to emit lights that have effects (lens flare, cross, or anything like that) applied and them actually render?
if so...how.
Mine wont render the effect..the lights emit, but no effect in the render.
