Subject: Show your Poser 13 renders!

Well, I was doing a bit of cleaning up between several instances of numerous files, particularly back in the days of Poser 7, a period in history when I blindly (and too naively) followed the default installation paths, lol.
And that's when I stunbled upon this beautiful gem (from 2006), once adorned with Ghostship's car paint

Does anyone recognize the model? I'm leaning towards Aston Martin.

Could be. Stunning.

How many other lights did you add besides the HDRI?

Y-Phil ( ) posted Sun, 03 August 2025 at 5:05 PM Β· edited Thu, 12 February 2026 at 3:02 PM

Oh I have setup 5 studio scenes that I frequently use, this is one of them, with 3 pose-only infinite lights and this HDRi: Little Paris Under Tower. from Poly Haven. No other "active" lights involved, but as I find it rather "strong", I'm using this little hack: RGB=(200,200,200)

You could also use an HSV node to modulate brightness.

This is a very touchy subject for many people, but I couldn't resist. The subject is a high-poly model that I picked up at Sketchfab. It is not rigged, but it sure is detailed. Superfly render. Enjoy.

I have found the name of the package: something like "P7-Roadster Maiko". But I don't know where it comes from: neither rendo nor daz.

It appears to be part of the Casino content that came with Poser 7. So, it wasn't ever listed as a separate product. Looks great. A lot of older props are just fine if you update the textures and maybe apply some subdivision.

Oh yes! the famous Casino. Thank you
And you're right: many oldies look great with the new texture management, indeed.

It had taken me some time to put this scene together with items obtained from Poly Haven, Sketchfab, and Renderhub. In most cases, I used Poser's Grouping Tool to create additional material zones that didn't exist in the original FBX files. Upon saving each item as props into the Poser Library, I extracted the embedded geometries with D3D's Extract Embedded Geometry program. Using this approach, I created new PP2 files containing links to their newly converted object files. All items have PBR material, and the scene was rendered in Superfly. I used legacy lighting converted to blackbody for realistic illumination; the Kelvin temperature was 5500 degrees for the key and fill lights.

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity

For those who have followed my introduction of ambient occlusion into Poser 13 Cycles, I have figured out how to add it to the PhysicalSurface node.  The illustration is below:

bSYTncymjfhbsYuFLbgIdC9nUQHM45Lgcj82o4oq.png

Adjust the amount of AO using the Distance slider.  I would suggest to keep the value low, especially on the face texture or else your character will have raccoon eyes. I recommend 0.001 as a starter.
