Description

"'I am a servant of the secret fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udun.Go back to the shadow!! You cannot pass,' The Balrog made no answer. The fire in it seemed to die, but the darkness grew. It stepped forward slowly onto the bridge, and suddenly it drew itself up to a great height, and its wings were spread from wall to wall; but still Gandalf could be seen, glimmering in the gloom; he seemed small, and altogether alone: grey and bent, like a wizened tree before the onset of a storm..." JRR Tolkien-The fellowship of the Ring I'm not sure how this one will be recieved but it's hands down my favorite of all my works!! Perhaps it's because I've carried this picture in my head since I was about 11 years old. I didn't have the technology to create it then.. Still don't! LOL, But if ya hum a few bars, I can fake it!!! You too! This scene is my favorite in the book. I haven't had the guts to try it yet. Brilliant work, both fire and shadow are just perfect. Excellent rendition of one of the best episodes out of one of the best books ever! Vote.

John you rock! You captured the power of this scene in the book perfectly! I remember reading those books as a kid and that to was one my favorite parts. Excellent artwork!

OK Here's the credits: The Balrog is sixus1's Behemoth, with a texture from Mapps Materials. His horns were created from a Croisant shaped primitive created by pefo. Gandalf is actually V3, with Mint's Lola texture, though all you can see is the hands, His robe is actually svdl's royal dress also with a material from mapps, Hair by Danae, His staff is from the Mistress of Magic" set by BVH, Glamdring is by Kelc. The rest was constructed in Photoshop using Digital stock photos from The Stock XChange by the Artists ren, Bert8K, Eps3lon, and Spock1...Poser 5 and Photoshop 7, Thanxxx all!!! -JD
