It's a mother and child..but she's not rocking; I see her holding her baby up in a moment of unrestrained joy and laughter. Precious concept and great lines, shapes, colors and flow.

This is a CLASSIC! A "V" without a doubt!!! Seldom have I seen so few shapes say so much!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you get the idea I love this piece you are correct. Nothing is wasted in this design. Seriously, this has got to be used as a logo for some organization.

Wow, so simple, so direct, yet so complete!
@d_hood: Perhaps it's not that anyone could do this in a few minutes (in fact I created this image in a few minutes), but that such a simple idea with simple shapes can wake up so many associations in the viewers' minds. When I tried out this shape with pencil on paper and showed it to others - first the three half circles, then the two "heads" added" - most people were simply amazed of what happened in their minds.
And perhaps the same happened here.
It's wonderful in its simplicity.
