Days I passed in my beloved shell,
days of love, and days of care...
Now I live abroad,
I see just seldom
the bright sun whose rayes
caresses you,
my Florence, my beloved friend:
But you're within
for every day that I won't catch
your golden walls,
your rooftops and stairs.
The smallest glimpse of your lookin life
and my joy sparkles,
and my soul raises.
Wherever I am ,
or I'm gonna be,
I am daughter yours,
for all I live.*

Picture taken with Canon IXUS 400, in October 2002, no postwork. Location, Via De'Benci, Firenze.

This morning that I am back in Florence, and the sun shines so bright.. I felt all the love for my town getting so huge I had to find a way to compose a hymn for it.
This picture is gonna be in an album soon updated in my website among others (it's a life that I don't update that section.. sorry), and I thought about sharing it.
It was way too long I didn't contribute to this gallery, and so I hope you all enjoy.

beautiful image, the coloring is stunning!
I love your photography. You have a magic eye that captures so much from the visual to the emotional. This beautiful love the warm golden tones, very inviting. Beautiful photo, Meli!
Sorry I have missed a few Meli . You never cease to amaze me with all you do .Big Hug }}}}}}}}}
It makes me want to do in the picture, it just looks so lovely there :)
It is fantastic honey. :) I have no words... :) The colour that the camera can bring gives it an extra effect but it is the idea behind it that always matters the most. And the idea you have in this one is wonderful. It would really fit in a professional's best of pic list...so amazing. :) And the poem is wonderful too. I know exactly how it is. Even though I hate my hometown a bit (understatement as you know.. ;)). But there is something there that has shaped me. For good and for bad. But it has a piece of me that I can only find there. And I get a longing for that piece, when I read your poem and see your picture. :)
Love the tones and compo, excellent work Meli! huggles =)
Lovely hymn and golden filtered photo! Absolutely no "Old world" look and feel where I live, so always a joy to see! Thanks for showing us your love of your hometown! Bravo!

Touching poem and beautiful photo! --- One day I'll see Firenze in real!!!
Meli, you live in the city which I prefer in Italy. Florence is a fabulous city with magnificent monuments and museums and its Ponte Vecchio so romantic. A beautiful photo with a particular atmosphere and the sepia colour give it still more character. Excellent shot... Bravissimo !

Awesome photo and a touching poem. Lucky you that have a town that fills you with so much love! As you and I both have an Ixus 400, I have to ask if the beautiful sepia is made by the camera or by postwork.
Great texture, the camera is a nice one! Good solid shot, wonderful color! Great Work, Meli!
those guys are bicycle thieves!!? well, they could be i guess... luv the sepia slice of life. & your zest & ethusiasm for your Florence... it's an exquisite city :]
idem come sopra :)
mmm...wonderful old time image colors! wish i knew how to create those colors. Excellent work from a wonderful woman
i love the warm tones in this, i think it reflects the love you have for you city. hope to see more of it :))
Meli, I love this photo. Great focus and contrast from the highlights on the wall to the shadows around the door. The texture on the curtain is wonderful as well. I also think that the gold tone you gave this really emphasizes what you said in your poem. One question though, what are those guys doing with that curtain on the end of the crane. I have never seen anything like this before and I am very curious about it.
What quality the photograph brings in.I love the colour and the subject, with such a bulky chain on the bike surley its safe!lol!Wonderfull work Dear!I love it and pedal off now your not looking:-)Byeeeeeee calum
Meli, maybe it's your sweet sparkle that brings the sunshine!........ your poetry is unparalleled as usual!........
I find it so amusing that you use a 4 Megapixel high-tech camera to turn out a photo that looks "old" - sepia tones and all. Just a thought. :) Nice picture.
Lol! I won't bring my bike to Florence! But have to say this is a really nice sepia toned image, and alot of textures to look at. I absolutely adore your poem,it is brilliant and beautiful as you are! :)
