Description
*There's no other place in the world, which I would die for.
No other one, which makes me cry for emotion, the way I do here.
I owe to my town, all the sense of respect for beuaty, people and culture I have.
All my inspirations, blossomed from the treasure of living in this corner of paradise.
I tried to find a poem , among millions written by so many writers about my town, that could express what I feel when I immerse myself in the sight of Florence.
But I couldn't find any,not even from my beloved Dante that could express the immense joy of my heart when from Piazzale Michelangelo I see this sight I have painted.
Forever grateful, that I can call Florence "My Home".
Wherever I'll live and go, this will always be the only place I would love to rest at. Until and after the end of my days.
Come here one day, all of you.
And I hope, that you will then understand me in full.*

I was stunned when I saw it coloured and finished. As I wrote the sketch was already detailed and you could see where it was going..but coloured it is just fantastic. :) And you really do make your hometown justice. I get back there as soon as I see it. All the light that surrounds the town and all the colours. I am of course proud that you took one of my pictures for the..ground idea, as you of course changed it a bit. :) And I must say..even though I really love the pictures I took, the drawing you made outshines the pictures in some ways. Probably it is the total love for your town and inspiration of your painting that touches me this much. :) I love everything about it..I can't say anything I like more...the colours are just utterly fantastic...just fantastic...that's sums it up in most ways :) Thank you for bringing me back to a wonderful town in this world.
The lighting here is sublime! It looks like a golden city and judging by your words it is :) The beautiful contrast with the dark yet rich colors strengthens the entire image and creates balance. Really beautiful, well worth your time to make and mine to view and comment (which is no comparison really) :)

When I come to Europe again....Florence is on the Agenda. This is so impressive...I always felt unfit to Comment...but, I have seen "work's" from the World's Great Galleries, I have seen the "Master's" ....and, I have seen Meli's.

This is a outstanding work, It's beautiful.Excellent.
The love you have for your city really shows in this excellent painting. It is so like a old masters painting, and yet you have put your own interpretation into it with that expansive sky. Almost like the image is saying "anything is possible here". I really really enjoyed viewing!

It really does come to life with imperial golden glow and the old town contrast. Some how the past can live with the eyes of the artist.
