Is it an unripe blackcurrant?
Pretty good guess, hard to tell without size context. This is a rosehip from a wildrose. I've never tried making jam, but heard it can be done. Have had rosehip tea many times!
A lovely, happy, beauty, this macro capture. We have wild roses too in our garden, with very fat deep red rose-hips ;-). Long ago I made jam from it, but I wasn't very fond of it.
