Spectacular capture!
A most fantastic shot!! This is a Libellula forensis, or 'Eight-spotted skimmer. We don't have this kind of in The Netherlands, I guess you live in West USA, or Britisch Columbia (?).
Ah thank you for the identification, I didn't know the specifics. Yes we are in British Columbia, not far outside of Vancouver.
