Here's the final species from my upcoming spider set (coming later this week). I must admit when I first saw this tarantula, I was sure it was a Photoshopped fake, but after some research, this is a real species... I posed the male and female in a courtship pose-- ah, spider love! Obviously, the Brazilian Pinkbloom is found in Brazil. It feeds on mostly Insects (crickets, worms, beetles, locusts) but occasionally does hunt lizards and even young rodents. It is an extremely aggressive tarantula and will bite without provocation. It also can flick its hairs, which can cause skin irritation (similar to a stinging nettle). The body of a mature adult can be up to a length of 9 cm (but specimens of 11 cm have been recorded). Females are larger the males. The female of the species is a dark brown to black but the mature male has an incredible purple and pink hue to its torso and legs. This tarantula, as most tarantulas are, is threatened in wild due to over-collection by the pet trade.
