Description

Here's a peek at the updated Paradise Tanager in Iray from "Songbird ReMix Amazon". This volume is now in beta and should be re-released at the end of September. Its content has almost been doubled (with subspecies and female counterparts) -- similar to my Yucatan re-release. The paradise tanager is distributed in a broad arc round the north and west of the Amazon Basin. It appears to be absent from much of central Amazonia and south of the Amazon. Sexes are alike. There are 4 subspecies of this tanager with the rump color and geographical locations being the key identifiers. The rump color varies from red (in the nominate) to red/yellow (race paradisea), yellow (race chlorocorys), and cadmium yellow (race caelicolor). It glean fruits and insects in the upper canopy of trees, and tend to nest in the outer edge of the tree canopy.
