Description
Pacifica Brandani gentlewoman at the court of the city of URBINO where she died in 1511 apparently giving birth to the son of Giuliano de 'Medici Duke of Nemours of whom she was a lover. According to the latest theory it could be her and not Lisa Gherardini wife of Francesco da Giocondo. All this is interesting. But the sure thing is that she carries the secret with her in the grave while the image remains immortal.
I had previously worked on this idea then I made it more explicit, and for this I present it here, when it was exhibited in Florence in 2019 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci.
The exhibition dedicated to the famous talented man was held in the historic center in a prestigious 1500 building in front of Palazzo De Medici, on the same occasion as the image posted last week of the Last Supper. I will probably also post the third and final image of the event soon.

This is very powerful, Giuliano. You've joined a special group of artists, with your interpretation: I.e., Dali (L.H.O.O.Q.), Warhol's several versions, Jasper Johns, even Magritte (with one gioconda without Monna Lisa!)...and others. But yours is the most stunning of the group. I didn't expect her to be a skeleton. You've rendered the skeleton in strong decayed hues and textures---they're actually beautiful, if we don't think about what they 'are' You've given her full radiant hair---an eye-popping contrast with her skeletal face. You've given her scary, unprotected eyes, and you've clothed her in medical bandages---a brilliant choice. Instead of Leonardo's famous sfumato, you've created very detailed bandages. And she has wholly transparent flesh. Then, those mountains-----it looks like you took one of Leonardo's other-worldly mountain ranges (as if he made them from moon-rock), and you ran it through a cataclysmic heat wave, forcing them to become a wavy lava-spill. Amazing choices.
The overall feeling, here, is: A great and timeless icon (Monna Lisa) is now a reminder that even icons fade to dust. You also created a sharp 'joke' on the importance of famous masterpieces: Dali did it through a mustache (his mustache, presumably): You did it through death. The image hits us in the face. Terrific re-interpretation, Giuliano. It shocks us out of complacence. And I think a Vinci would approve.....his scientific mind would think: "This is what happens with time..." And, the most eerie thing about your image is-----you did this before COVID struck the world. It's prophetic, in that way...

OMG, almost the female version of Dorian Grey. Apparently she died from a combination of the Coronavirus and the radioactive fires in Russian/Ukraine. Extremely well done, detailed, with splendid overall death effects.
