Another of my birds from my upcoming Gamebirds2 project, this time in Iray. The White-browed Guan gets its name for obvious reasons. It is endemic to the Caatinga region in north-eastern Brazil. This Guan is listed as "Vulnerable" with less than 10,000 adults left and a rapid decreasing population trend (with the current fires in Brazil, it may nbe now "endangered"). Degradation of dry forests and arboreal caatinga, as well as a strong hunting culture in the region are the causes for its decline. The one hope for the survival of this bird are a number of protected areas including Raso da Catarina Ecological Station (Bahia), Serra da Capivara National Park (Piauí), Serra das Confusões National Park, Sete Cidades National Park, Parque Ambiental de Teresina and Pernambuco (Serra Negra Biological Reserve, Mauricio Dantas Private Reserve). Rendered in Iray without any post work. Models included Stonemason's "Through The Woods" and my Songbird ReMix Gamebirds2 and Perching Places (branches). Guans eat mainly fruit, berries and seeds. The sexes may differ in color of irises, being more reddish in males and brown in females.
