Another shot from the afternoon of the storm over Wahweap Bay in 2013.
I love going back through pictures from our trips, remembering what we did and where we went. Wahweap was a great place! Nice memories. :)
Some of you may be wondering about Bill, since he hasn't posted anything here in half of forever. He's happily busy working on genealogy stuff. Right now he's scanning old photographs. He wants many of them for his family tree, but he also wants digital copies in case anything happens to the originals. You know ... fire, hurricane, whatever. Last year when Harvey went roaring through Texas, there was a day when we weren't sure if we were going to get hit or not. (We didn't ... it skimmed by north of us.) That experience focused his attention, and even though he's bored with the scanning process, he's enjoying getting it done and off his list.

Remind Bill that he needs to come up for air and that his adoring fans want to see proof that he's alive, that is post something?

Having experienced the Northwest I have often wondered why anyone would want to live in the desert. Your pictures provide an answer. There is something special about these places.
I can completely understand Bill's position since I went through it myself a number of years ago. It can be a lot of fun to play detective and sometimes you uncover some surprising facts. May I suggest that, if his family tree includes parts of the United States, he post a related photo along with some text about a relative he has researched? (since you two have been just about everywhere)

Thanks, Tara, for the news about Bill. I understand his desire to have the genealogy work saved and backed up. Who am I? Where did I come from? My parents? And so on. My brother had contact with a man in Canada who had traced his/my genealogy back to Kurland, 1500s! (Kurland is in Latvia, one of the Baltic states). Unfortunately they lost contact with each other and the info went lost. So I know how it feels to have lost contact with the past! Give Bill my best wishes and good luck with his work! :-)

This is a really gorgeous shot, Tara! Wonderful depth, and delicious lighting.
My dad did a lot of that genealogical research before his health started to decline. I have a massive amount of stuff from his research, and I really ought to grab a copy of Family Tree Maker and picked up where he left off. Perhaps one day soon.
I can empathize with Bill… Over the last two or three years, I spent a lot of time scanning every negative and slide from the last 20 or so years – and there were a lot of them!

You have caught a beautiful light over this place, and it is great to go back over images for the memories. We seem to have more memories than action these days. Glad to hear that Bill is well too and it is good to get the family tree done as I remember with my parents that we wished they had left more information for us as we didn't think to ask them so many things.
