My first impression was fire storm, but a closer look makes me think of a sand storm. Good job with this photo. :-)

Mesmerizing and apocalyptic. Love how you captured a part of the landscape as it was about to be swallowed up. It gives a great sense of size.

What an epic image! Fantastic photo, Tara – this looks like a scene out of one of those big-budget disaster movies.

ok, one last one, tara (for this visit), I had to do this image as well. (Btw, rr seems to have addressed the 'too small' zoom problem by making zooms humongous---at least on my computer. I zoomed this, and it went to, like, 400%. So I dragged it to the desktop and sized it to 100%, and it's splendid.) More of your textured light and clouds; very ansel adams-like, in the way he masterfully textured light and sky. And the clouds, because of their silken presence, feel like an apocalypse come down to earth. They are almost unreal next to the landscape. Yet their hue picks up the landscape, and it's beautiful. Reminds me of those duststorms we spoke of. The landscape is its usual deep reddish oranges, and it's beautiful too. And you mixed in the dark foreground as a strong accent/ground for the piece. A big looming beautiful apocalypse, with a to-die-for deep orange. Gorgeous shooting and postwork, with more of your "darkroom"-like developing...
