Description
Ann’s boss at the magic shop never showed up for work. She sent a boy to find him. He returned with a city guard and informed her the boss had died. The guard locked up the property until the will could be implemented. Ann went to stay with Kith until she knew if she’d be able to continue to live there. She soon got word she’d need to meet with the magistrate.

Ha! What a turn and complication! And that city guard guy is one fine a-hole too. This feels like it's all brewing up into one heck of a mess for her! And you know what? About the tip? Absolutely perfect example of how no good deed goes unpunished. Witnessed with suspicion in her case, but the same applies. Honest to God.
Totally excellent transition phase of your story here, Phantom. Very, very dramatic and unsettling series of events.

Don't be too hard on Bretia. He has to be suspicious with people like Merrada running around. He's not really a bad guy. He did take Kith at his word about Ann's dad. And you have to wonder why Kith would even offer to scry a non-existent man. Remember, they don't know Thailyn is her dad. Who would he have scried if Bretia had wanted to talk with her dad? Bretia knows Kith watches out for runaways and thinks it's better than sending the kids back home most times. He knows if Kith claims someone lives with family, either they do, or he's taking care of them.
One bag of green vegetable matter coming up. I strongly recommend keeping it in the jar and keeping the lid tightly closed until you're ready to use it. Steep 3 leaves in boiling water and inhale steam. Do not drive, use heavy machinery or cast spells for 3 hours after use.
