Description

The hotel Sonesta Posadas del Inca in Yucay, Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru at night. Yucay is at best a small farming community where the local descendants of the Inca grow corn and potatoes. There is no commercial district, no street lights, and no traffic. At night it is dark, quiet, and because of the altitude (~9,300-ft) clear and cold. So quiet and peaceful. Like it should be in all places of habitation after dark. Electric lights are a mixed blessing/curse. Blessing - we can see in the dark, curse - people are out at all hours and crime, oh, oh! I bet you have the most fantastic astronomical display if you lay on your back. Looking at the stars and planets you will get a sense of time/calendar lost to city dwellers. This display lies behind much more than calendars. There's SO much to be said about this, and so little space and time. Keep up the good work! :-)
