Description
My district on the last Saturday of the Easter school holidays. If you look as far as the eye can see and turn right you will get to where I live. It's only about one mile, 20 minutes walk.
I normally shop in Waitrose which you can see on the left between the two sets of traffic lights. That is less than 10 minutes from my house, so you will understand why I rarely use the car to shop for groceries!

Wow! That's a lot of traffic in a small area. Yes I believe your decision to walk is a wise one. It would take you twice as long to drive and find a parking place.
It is fun to see the places people live in the other places in our world.

Looks like a pleasant town. My first impression is that there is life there. The sidewalks in my town are usually deserted and most of the small shops have been absorbed by giant malls. I also like ex-Ahab's comment showing how much more style the British have than their American cousins. "I always fancied one o' those flashy wicker-work jobs, with the bentwood handles." I us an aluminum luggage "trolley" with a cardboard box for groceries.
Good to have everything in walking distance. Wish we had a Waitrose.

Outstanding Work
A beautiful place, full of life but also of order and calm. Whenever I see the British traffic surprises me see the cars going in the opposite direction to our traffic. I had an Austin, but the steering wheel had been adapted to our country, so I have not yet experienced a true British car.
It's like here, lots of parking cars. Fantastic shot with many details to discover!

Saturday is our busiest day and you can shoot a cannon down main st. and still hit nobody !
I know there's a big difference between this scene and high rises, but it's still amazing to see a genuinely packed city street in your gallery. I assume this doesn't give you claustrophobia, if for no other reason than there are no buildings over a few stories high. And maybe also because this street isn't duplicated 3000 times in every direction. I love the counterpoint of it all, the bustle and interaction of so many shapes, lines and colors. And making out names too---"To Let" at first looked like "toilet" and I thought, man, they really advertise toilets in England! You have a lot of things we have here, except with British names. (I hope that isn't too much of an insult, lol.) And Waitrose is, I assume, a food store? Ok I looked it up---it's a supermarket! I love the pile up of facades here---and, in the flickr version we get to see more. But this version packs it more, feels more like a crowded street. Love that you posted this (you have some serious hills where you live!). Well I'll be back for more, Andrea, but I wanted to comment on this because I love the shot, and at least our homes have a little in common...(a little)...
