I'm in favor of Johnny Cash's version...certainly see where your title came from. Love the light, shadows and patina. This is from an ancient (ok, old) Ford Model-T C-Cab truck that was built sometime before 1929. I guess it has every right to have all the patina it wants:)

It EARNED that patina, LOL! I think it looks fantastic against that broken up rock face...beautiful shot, full of texture and character!

You know Tara, I too prefer the song, and particular the guitar sound with Johnny Cash. Because the metal sound of that guitar , emphasizes your cool and stunning photo (although my idea). Again there is such a fantastic varieties of metal rust to discover, in which I in a way can fall in love for. The background has beautiful textures as well. Bravo again, my dear friend!

The song works! This is a great crop and I like the patina on this old warrior. Eventually it will blend completely into the landscape. I can imagine Jay Leno looking at this and being beside himself at the lost of another vintage car.

strictly so I can have all my time for commenting, I'll have to skip the songs. (Sorry!) So I can't enter into that dialogue, which others have gotten a lot from. But the shot is splendid. Your crop---cutting off the car at the lower portions---fits the car itself: It's cut off as well. Maybe it was the cab of a truck. Whatever it was, it stands now as a dilapidated old rusty god, and it has a dignity all its own. You got the reds and browns, you got the bleaching light (on the hood and roof), you got an almost pure black recess where the engine was. And one lone grass sticking up into that recess---one of those 'tara touches' you do so intuitively well. And you got a great background---captured with vividness equal to the car. That red rock, then blue and white (and even silver toned) debris, all make a harmonious backdrop to this old rusty angel. And you have bleaching light on the lower portion (the grasses on the lower left, for example). Lots of drama in light and hues. And in the center of it all, an obviously loving capture of an old lumberjack of a car, sitting in splendorous hues, and popping into your shot as if it had popped its head up just as you arrived, to see what was going on. Beautiful work...
