Description
Captured 9/18/15, at 8:10 am, on the north side of an abandoned VFW building, not far from home.
A lovely Gothic stump, having been exactly precision sliced across the top, and with its exquisite wormy bark below, shown receiving the only sunshine it will enjoy during the day, due to the rays being blocked by the buildings and trees around it.
Arrivederci.

Very great capture !!!
I wonder what strange type of tree this was before it was stump-ized? Weirdly wonderful bark texture, very gothic indeed! Great find Harry, and a super capture!
Okay I'm Stumped.... LOL!!! Excellent Capture!!! and it Looks Like the Remnants of a Palm Tree, But a Perfect Cut!!!
Good idea Harry. Did you think about counting the rings?
Still a nice place to have a rest. Excellent capture in the burning sun.
This was once a big boy! Great image of the remaining stump Harry!
cool
marvelous shot well lightened !!! splendid capture !!!
I didn't mean to go chronologically today (as I like to get a wide swath of your work), but it looks like I'm going chronologically anyway; so it looks like I won't be leaving anything out on this leg of the journey...
You could have called this, "Stump with Dreadlocks" too. A wonderful shot of the strangest bark formations I've seen, with a flat top (yes, like it's been "precision sliced") sitting there like a primitive drum. Your composition turns the wall behind it into an abstract "frame," and the ground is wonderfully rich with nature's debris. (In contrast to the gritty detail of the wall.) It's almost as if the stump is acknowledging us, from the angle you caught; and those dreadlock-barks are terrific. (Presumably dreadlocks were so-named because the Church thought they were "dreadful," thus a threat to decent religion.) Here, they make the trunk look like it's doing the shimmy. Another minimalist capture from you that's full of wonderful detail: No square inch of your environs are 'safe' from your eye. I miss tons of sights when I go shooting, but you find pictures everywhere. Another terrific "single subject" capture from you. (Which has more than a single subject, to be sure.)
