Description
To provide water for the residents of Gloucester, Massachusetts, the Babson Reservoir was completed on December 9, 1930. The dam that created the reservoir was rebuilt over the winter and this is two different views of the overflow spillway. I just liked the patterns involved in the different views.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments.
They are very much appreciated.

I would love to see the water flowing down here Dana, it should be quite impressive.
I fully intend to do that Jeff - just waiting for a couple of days of heavy rain!!!
Very interesting solution and good ducumentation !!!
Great idea and shots. I like the perspective and symmetry in the picture above.

Strange waterfall ^^ Have a good day!

I seen pyramid shape concrete objects in the pasture areas near Devils Tower. I read they are to break the flow of flood waters through the valley. I do not see often these type for overflow for dams . I crossed bridge over a local lake yesterday and the water was lapping at the bridge I- beams
yes we have them alot also, slow that water down when it's gushing. cool shots of them, Dana.

Yes indeed, this overflow spillway is amazing and esthetic, excellent capture, Dana !
Very Interesting pic
interesting symetry and is the water flowing free or is it coming out of the holes of the pipes one can see? I think it's free ;o)))
The dam allows water to collect in a valley and supplies the city with drinking water. if there is a lot of rain and the water level is to high, the water flows down this spillway into a canal that goes into the ocean.
That is some newly minted concrete indeed, well seen!
3 dimensional chess ? LOL, I agree the patterns look really cool ! Nice find and captures, at first I thought it was a shooting range, talk about off the mark ! LOL ~Cheers~
